System of a down and blink 182 are ahead. Yuch!!
Can the mods send out a quickie email to the board members to go vote (every hour!)?
I was at the in store show too, Tony. It was at the record store next to Junkman’s Daughter in Little Five Points (Criminal Records?).
We’ll have to hook up at the next Atlanta show.
I never saw that one before. Where is it from?
Congrats to both you guys! What are ya’ll gonna do with all your free time?
J, your music has been there for me for years – getting me through, well, everything. Thank you so much for all the tunes. I hope you have a bodacious birthday!!!
Of course! When he was younger, I used to turn him on to lots of stuff and he wouldn’t listen to it, cause he thought since I was his Mom there was no way he’d like it. But a lot of stuff I turned him onto years ago are his favorites now (Beck and Weezer are examples). These days, he turns me onto the new stuff. Don’t know what I’ll do when he starts driving – it’s nice having a personal DJ in the car who keeps me up on the new stuff.
He is a member, but I don’t think he has ever posted, just a lurker here. He runs a friends band web site and visits the Weezer board pretty regular (among others). He has a pretty varied taste in music for his age. And lucky for both of us, we have similar tastes.
Albums – 275-300
45’s – about 75
cassettes – 125
CD’s – about 225
78’s – about 100
Collection has been reduced over time due to theftmurphedspace constraints. Don’t buy as much as I used to cause my son buys so much now. We have pretty similar tastes, but he has the most newer stuff. He is 15 and has about 200-250 cd’s (we have some duplicates of stuff we both wanted our own copy of – More Light is one of the dupes).
Hey, Javro – the London dentists do that sort of thing too? I was traumatized at about age 13 when my dentist got arrested (and convicted) for doing nasty things to ladies while they were under the gas. Leery of dentists ever since, though still gotta get the gas to handle the visit. My current dentist has an open office sorta thing going on – oughta be required for all dental offices.December 7, 2001 at 5:19 pm in reply to: pics from Dec 1 show at Empty Bottle, mp3’s ready to be post #62579
Nice pics, Foglight. I was able to look at them as BMP files with MSPaint. So, was that stuff at J’s feet there before he came out or did he make the mess?
Flying cloud – thanks for sharing that pic! Now I have a favorite non-live photo and a favorite live photo. Great shot.
Jebus, have no fear, you are not the oldest on the board, even if you exclude Mike Watt.
I am pretty certain I would be the oldest one on the board……chronologically. Like Allison, my mental age can and does vary significantly from my chronological age, which I consider a good thing.
Whoa! That is definitely the most wide-eyed pic I’ve seen of J. Nice! Why was he so wide-eyed?
Rosa, the one you describe sounds similar to one in an old article I have where Murph, J and Lou are sitting in a messy room with books piled all around them. Michael Lavine took the photo and I think the article is from 1989. It’s another old favorite of mine.
I’ve got a small brontosaurus tattoed on my shoulder. Searched all over New York city for the pic I wanted. It is, of course, in honor of Dinosaur Jr. Had it about 8 or 9 years and don’t regret it.
Happy belated birthday! Two things to remember when you deal with a loss of any kind:
1) you will feel a little better about the situation everyday (once the intial shock wears off)
2) that will not be the last relationship you ever have (and probably not the best either!)
I have had a pretty awful year and had to deal with loss in my life several times in the past few months. I really feel for you, but it really does get better each day. I also agree that you need to listen to J as much as possible. Don’t really understand it, but his music has gotten me through things I never thought I would survive.
