And that guitar! So pained. So loud. So Neil Young. This album also features Lou Barlow and gives a hint of where he’d take Sebadoh a few years later … more sensitive scrawny pale guy music. “In a Jarâ€? is the grunge equivalent of The Smiths’ “Reel Around the Fountainâ€? … “In a jar, all I could do was lick your handâ€? vs. “You can pin and mount me like a butterfly.â€?
