#79. Dinosaur Jr
You’re Living All Over Me (1987)A guy like J Mascis is irresistible to girls like me who used to pine for “scrawny pale guys.â€? He sounded like a groovy dork who’d just been unjustly dumped by a girl who didn’t “getâ€? him. And that guitar! So pained. So loud. So Neil Young. This album also features Lou Barlow and gives a hint of where he’d take Sebadoh a few years later … more sensitive scrawny pale guy music. “In a Jarâ€? is the grunge equivalent of The Smiths’ “Reel Around the Fountainâ€? … “In a jar, all I could do was lick your handâ€? vs. “You can pin and mount me like a butterfly.â€?
