mdwestonParticipantAt a J show this past spring, a sound clip was played in between songs. It was someone cursing at a band of some sort, sounding like a real jerk. What is this recording?

dfkgurlParticipantThat is Buddy Rich. He was a really famous drummer and used to be on the Johnny Carson show a lotta years ago. If it is the recording I think it is, it is Buddy berating his band members on the tour bus. I thought this was really wierd they played this because I have a copy of the same thing. An old boyfriend gave it to me years ago cause he knew I was a Buddy Rich fan and that I had been on an elevator with Buddy once when I was a lot younger. I was on an elevator with J once, too. Both times I pretty much geeked out.

SGParticipantI heard a story once about a local drum teacher;he met up with Buddy Rich and started saying "You`re Buddy Rich, you`re the greatest, etc."
What did Buddy Rich do?broke a drum stick on the guy`s head!.
One of coolest Buddy albums I heard is the album with Max Roach,a drum battle album, very cool with a big band, from 1959.
I also have one from 1974 called Tuff Dude which is pretty good as well.August 7, 2001 at 10:50 am #52690
maxiniParticipantJust checked out that Buddy Rich rant and it’s hilarious alright I’ve noticed Mike Watt uses the expression "blow a clam" on his tour diaries and now I see Buddy says "clam" too in the same kinda context. Never heard it b4 though (english isn’t my native language), but I figure it means screwing up yr playing in some way. If someone knows more precisely what it means, please tell me, I’m curious.

ScreamingTreeParticipantIt was hilarious seeing the curiousity of the crowd at the show i was at when J had that tape playing almost as loud as the music in between songs.
