Pavement- Crooked Rain/ Slanted and Enchanted
Pixies- Surfer Rosa
These cd’s are very good.

Sparta- Wiretap Scars
…I can’t stress this enough: August 13th it comes out and you should buy it if you liked ATDI. It hasn’t left the cd player since July when I first mentioned it. They’re the next big thing.

Horace Silver-Blowin The Blues Away-one of the best albums he did for Bluenote Records;he did a ton of albums for BN,so much he`s problably in the Guiness Book Of World Records for the most albums on one label.

Sully-I Have Much To Report-the AMG called them post grunge/industrial metal far from the truth, they actually sound like a more forceful Cocteau Twins,I think their singer stole Liz Fraser`s lyric book.

St Johnny-High As A Kite-a comp of singles and unreleased stuff from this Hartford,Conn. band;Hammy-if you know any info on them, like where they are now, please fill me and Tony in.Mercury Rev guitarist Grasshopper guests on a few songs.

Bobby Bare jr. – Young criminals starvation league
Some fine ‘story-telling’ songs, a lot of Lambchop people as backing band and a fine cover of the Smiths’ ‘What difference does it make?’, fine album!

Velvet Underground And Nico-classic album, what more can I say?maybe the first fusion of free jazz and rock.

Wes Montgomery-Ultimate series-jazz`s greatest guitarist;a comp of songs chosen by George Benson, his version of Coltrane`s Impressions is incredible.

Van Morrison-Astral Weeks-another classic,Van`s impassioned free form vocals impressive me the most, like Leadbelly or John Lee Hooker not paying attention to musical rules, just emotion. The band is great too;jazz bassist Richard Davis on bass,he used to play with the Dolphy/Little band and Sarah Vaughan;Connie Kay from the Modern Jazz Quartet is on drums.

John Lee Hooker-Best Of:1965-74-JLH recorded a ton of albums so this comp is only the tip of the iceberg in his discography;pretty good comp nonetheless by the legendary bluesman.

Various Artists-Throw:Yo Yo Records compilation-featuring Kicking Giant,Bikini Kill,Heavens To Betsy,Unwound,Superchunk,Lois,Bratmobile,Mecca Normal, etc.and even a string quartet covering a Beat Happening song. Some songs were recorded in a chicken coop, how cool is that?

Townes Van Zandt-A Far Cry From Dead-Townes should have been as well known as Willie Nelson, but he was weary of stardom and the music biz;as Steve Earle said-"Townes Van Zandt is a better songwriter then Bob Dylan, and I`d stand on Bob Dylan`s coffee table in my cowboy boots and tell him that".This album is fantastic with alot of his best songs,Snake Mountain Blues and Waitin Around To Die gives me the chills.

Richard Buckner-Since-Buckner was influenced alot by Townes, but I also heard he`s a big Pavement fan. This album might be his best, each album he`s released he gets more left of center,folk/country is where he`s coming from but he is`nt afraid to be a little experimental,he has 2 new albums coming out this fall, that should be cool.

Ryan Adams – New songs and cover versions
Bootleg containing what the title says, covers range from Gram Parsons’ ‘Sin City’ via the Stones (‘Brown Sugar’) to the Strokes (‘Last Nite’) + 9 new songs + an acoustic version of ‘New York, New York’, cool stuff
