are you going to ozzfest jeremiah I heard Sabbath is going to play a few new songs</STRONG><HR></BLOCKQUOTE>Little to pricey for me this year since the only band I want to see there is Sabbath.
that reminds me Last time I saw Ozzy was on his ‘farewell tour’ when Zak Wylde played for him. Opening was Motorhead + Alice in Chains. Don’t go to many ‘stadium sized’ concerts but it was an amazing show. The crowd made me feel like it was still ’83 or so but it rocked Wylde is a madman but his solo stuff/other bands suck bigtime. He says Ricky Scaggs is his biggest influence which is why (I guess) his style is different from most in that genre of music.

malcomParticipantIn no particular order. . .
1) John Frusciante(?)-To Record Only Water For Ten Days-John is my favorite artist, check out his solo efforts whenever you find one
2) Primus-Sailing the Seas of Cheese-Primus is cool
3) Flaming Lips- Clouds Taste Metallic-My all time favorite Band
4) JOhn Fruisciante-Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt-Rough around the edges, but still cool. a creepy journey into the soul of a man who is addicted to heroin.
5)Jah Wobble- Rising Above Bedlam, Jah is THE MAN when it comes to avant garde/world music.

eggwaterParticipantgood topic…it’s nice to see what people are listening to. My recent listens are thus:
Zombies – Odessey and Oracle – great.
Carlos Santana and John MacCloughlin – Love, Devotion… – got it on saturday second hand, Coltrane trax and originals…awesome.
Alice Cooper – Killer – Halo of Flies is amazing.
Limp – Guitarded – had to buy for the cover – kinda generic in an emocore Dag Nasty stylee. Kinda like this shit over the summer. TRhough I always feel I need a Snowboard strapped to my feet whilst I listen to this Hardcore, punk kinda stuff.
Papa M – Papa M Sings – I love David Pajo’s stuff, whatever happened to Brian Mcmahan??
those are recent purchases…
my general playlist always includes the following (I listen to most of my music in the car on Tape):
Neil Young – On the Beach (beautiful – Neil at his best)
Sabbath – Sabotage (tremendous)
Blue Oyster Cult – Tyranny… (rockin’)
Dinosaur – my BUG/Green Mind tape (nuff said)
Minutemen – all albums
Firehose – Raging full on
Minor threat – all stuff
All – Allroys Revenge
Beefheart – Trout Mask Replica
Parliment/Funkadelic – as always on my mind
various techno and electronic things from germany and detroit.shit I listen to all sorts all the time.
this morning I listened to Sister by Sonic Youth on my way to work…it put me in the correct deconstructed state of mind.
I need an egg on toast.
see ya.

irishwhipParticipantI always bring two cd’s with me to my work. In the afternoon I turn the radio off and put the cd’s on. No co-workers here in my room, so I can rock like I’m at home!! The last few cd’s I played here are:
Flaming Lips – The Soft Bulletin (with the amazing Race for the prize and Waiting for a Superman)
Weezer – Green Album (Hip Hip indeed!)
Mercury Rev – Deserter’s Song (I haven’t heard it yet, but I read it was very good)
Nada Surf – The Proximity Effect (very good, much better then their first album)
Nightwish – Ocean Born (Finnish metal)
A lot of cd’s I made myself, with songs I downloaded from the internet/Napster/WinMx. I also listen a lot to a cd I made, with live-tracks of J Mascis & The Fog (from Peel Session at the BBC) and covers done by other artists. Very good!!

Thurston Moore – Psychic Hearts (good summery album)
Radiohead – Amnesiac (listened to it over mates house, sounds very good)

AGAPParticipantHey,
Just want to say WOW to all the posts, tons of great tunes. Always shocks me the amount of music Mascis maniacs listen to.
Also wanted to say hey to some Flaming Lips fans…very cool band. Cannot wait until they finish recording the new one…probably take more than a year but hey at least its in progress. The Christmas on Mars movie should be pretty hilarious, interesting soundtrack no doubt
Interesting Modest Mouse turn of events, just got a new cool pair of headphones from my husband. I destroyed mine last week….hmmm I think there is a hidden agenda at work…could it be he wants me to use them to listen to Heart cooks Brain… Definitely!!!

MattmanParticipantHey Allison, new headphones are cool, but don’t let the others bind you. Some times you gotta let the music fill the room, instead of just letting it ‘seem’ like it’s filling the room.

…On my way to God don’t know, my brain’s the burger and my heart’s the coal…

MattmanParticipantHey, got my next 5… And without further delay:
Sugar, Copper Blue. Because, hey, it’s Bob Mould!!!
Pixies, Doolittle. Because, hey, it’s the Pixies!!!
Servotron, No Room For Humans. Awesome side project of a couple members of Man or Astroman a few years back. An entire album about robots taking over human civilization, from the robots point of view!!! check it out if you can find it…
Jerry Cantrell, Boggy Depot. Solo project from Alice In Chains guitar player. Another of my guitar heroes… I think he’s coming to my town in August!!!
The Cure, Galore. All of the cool singles in one place. What more could one want???

SGParticipantI thought I`d mention some music I`m listening to:Sunny Day Real Estate-The Rising Tide-just bought it this morning, sounds pretty good.Jeremy`s vocals are amazing.
Miles Davis-love songs-slow and mellow stuff from the 50`s and 60`s.great stuff.
Tindersticks-Can Our Love…-Curtains is my fav tindersticks album, this new one is`nt too bad.Stuart`s voice is so deep and cool.
Helium-The Magic City-their last record,kind of a concept album about dragons,the devil,and outer space.Mary`s a pretty good songwriter.
Flying Burrito Brothers-Farther along;best of-Gram Parsons has become a legend over the years here`s some evidence of it.Kind of a high priest of alt-country next to Neil Young.Lots of cool pedal steel and good choice of songs.
Last night I pulled out some stuff I bought years ago rive Like Jehu-Yank Crime-good emo screamo stuff from 94;Aloha!SUIT UP!
Meat Puppets-Up on the sun-this album reminds me of Wesley Willis, you know those happy little keyboard back up He uses in almost every song.Check out `swimming hole`and see if you agree. It also reminds of Zenyetta Mondetta era police, though the Kirkwoods singing won`t remind you of Sting.
Red Red Meat-jimmy Wine Magestic-Great album of back porch blues gone wrong and a singer that sounds like Kurt Cobain, listen to `lather`-"another clothesline car door raining dollar bills"-I love that lyric!
New Sparkehorse?I got check that out.I`m also awaiting the new Built To Spill.June 15, 2001 at 6:36 pm #64959
SGParticipantOh yeah,I forgot,Beaster by Sugar;I love that ep!Best thing Sugar ever did.Not the best Bob Mould ever did though,New Day Rising and Zen Arcade are my votes, not to forget Grant either.
