tom_in_chicagoParticipantThis AM I shuttled Lou down to the Q101 studios for an in-studio thing on the insipid "Mancow’s Morning Madhouse" show (don’t even get me started !). Just before they played (Raisans & Forget the Swan), this character/party promoter/"Pimp" Archbishop Something Somethingorother came in to plug something along w/ an entourage of 5 or 6 toadies. It was truly a "worlds colliding" sort of experience. One of the toadies purported to be a "player" so J let him lay down a few riffs.
Schwartz & Kyle

I’ll also hopefully have the best of the 500 or so pics from yesterday & today’s shows posted tomorrow or by Monday.

Nah, they usually have malt liquor in them. Awesome pics, the one of that guy playing J’s guitar is cool.

circus kingParticipantDude, that pimp is Don "Magic" Juan. One of the most famous pimps EVER! He rules and I read his book!
Book’s called "From Pimp Stick to Pulpit". He’s now Rev. Don "Magic" Juan. BIG PLAYA!

AGAPParticipantGreat pics, gotta love those glasses

Looking forward to the remaining pics!

slimetrailParticipantThis might be a stupid question but who’s that guy in the third pic, second from the right? He was at the Cambridge show on 12/4 tuning J’s guitar and doing general stagehand stuff.

AnthonyParticipantThat’s Kevin Sweeney.
That’s funny though, but for the longest time, I was telling people that he was Kevin Shields, and they would go up to him and ask for his autograph.

BetteDavisLiesParticipantI know Kevin. My husband and I met him originally in Knoxville, TN at a J show. We then ran into him in Boston, MA at one of the dino reunion tours last summer. He is one of the nicest guys ever.

AnnastefkaParticipantOkay, rather than go unload the dishwasher I would rather stay here and carry on with the Kevin Sweeny
idea………………..I stood next to Kevin Sweeny while watching Lucinda Williams, he and the nice young lady with him and my husband and I were behind a lesbian couple who were soooooooooo drunk they were getting
it on, and I mean way on and sort of using us as a wall to lean against, while doing it. My husband at 6′ 03 tall and 240 lbs was sort of the support beam in the whole thing. At one point I think he was enjoying it more than Lucinda. Whoa, I have to modify, Lucinda wasn’t enjoying it, she was unaware of the whole thingMore than the music of Lucinda was he thus enjoying it the same They soon came to there senses and were forced to pull there hands out of each others drawers so they
could stand up straight. What a night…………………………………………………I know there are many other Kevin Sweeny moments out there waiting to be put into print……I just don’t know if we gonna’ find ummm in time.

BetteDavisLiesParticipantI’ve got more.. Is there time enough to post them here, or, should I start a whole new Kevin Sweeney forum? Which would you prefer?
February 4, 2006 at 10:49 am #113242
AnnastefkaParticipantI think here is fine…..I don’t know if we could fill up a whole new thread………thats my only Kevin Sweeny
story and we live in the same town only a few miles apart.February 4, 2006 at 12:27 pm #113243
sweeneyParticipantThis is Kevin Sweeney, Bettydavies I remember you and your husband, you were present for some very funny moments in Knoxville. It will be good to see you guys again this spring.
I hate to contradict you Annastefka but it wasn’t me at the Lucinda Williams show. I almost wish I had been after reading your description of the events in the crowd, but then I would have had to listen to Lucinda Williams.
Tom, good pics of the terrible morning in the radio station, but maybe not the wierdest ever. Check this out.
