kracked873Participantso im watching this j+ the fog 4/14/01 charlotte NC video i got from simmons a couple years ago, watt totally made "im not fine" what it should be, now this song was one of my favorites from the day i got more light years ago and the backup vocals on the album grab me in a fucking awesome way, but watt added something so extra special too it when he belted out those lyrics the way he did, i dunno if j stopped playing the song because watt was no longer there to belt out the vocals the way he did. but if so… amen to that cause someday i know j and watt will grace the same stage together again, and when/if they bust out "im not fine" its gonna rock me like a fucking hurricane..

andyfestParticipantYeah, totally agree. I saw them live together twice (the only two times I’ve seen J live) and loved the way that song sounded live. Definitely superior to the CD version. Gave it more of the intensity that only Watt can bring.

MattmanParticipantOn the CD version, it was Bob Pollard of Guided By Voices who sang that part. I think that it’s J and Pollard both singing in a similar high pitch that makes it not sound as good. There’s not much contrast between their voices. Whereas Watt’s lower, gruff sounding voice and delivery really go well with J’s falsetto, causing both of their voices to stand apart better. That’s my opinion anyway.
