There is a good chance I will be there, although I’m not 100% positive yet.

Jaron, AnthonyG, and I are going but I was wondering if anyone else from the freakscene is going as well. Also, if anyone is planning on recording it it would be cool if it was posted on one of the ftp’s.

50/50 actually. Was in town for the week, and an interview may keep me here. (WHOO HOO!) I may just swing by on my own, and may be wearing a suit, have dark crew cut.

Oh, and since we have all the DCers in one thread, anyone game for the Queens of the Stone Age/Trail of Dead show at 9:30 club on the 30th of August?

It’d be cool if we got a group up for that.

Yeah, that would be cool to go see TOD and Queens. I’m gonna look into it, but even more pressing is the Sonic Youth show on the 8th at the 930. Probably won’t be too crowded since it conflicts with the Warped Tour. Sucks that Grohl isn’t drumming for Queens though. Tomorow I’ll be wearing a Sparta shirt and I’ll be with a guy that looks like Lennin (shaved head, funny glasses). I’ll also probably be the youngest guy there, as usual.

I’ve got tickets to Sonic Youth already, and as a Richmonder, it doesn’t conflict with our Warped Date (the 7th).

That’s actually going to be an awesome week for me:

Aug. 5th – Spin Doctors/Gin Blossoms
Aug. 7th – Warped Tour
Aug. 8th – Sonic Youth
Aug. 9th – Tool
Aug. 10th – Coldplay
Aug. 11th – Filter

I’ll be at the Black Cat tonight. I can’t wait. I’m a long time J fan and I’ve never been able to see him…everytime he comes through NY I’m unavailable. I’ll probably be wearing my white DJr shirt so keep an eye out for me. See ya tonight!

Just one more hour. Remember: black Sparta shirt, glasses, and unfortuneatly most people say I look like Harry Potter. It’d be cool to talk to you guys. This is amazing, and I’m not even there yet.

I did make it to the show, and it was a very lovely night. J started off singing about freedom, ’twas a very 70s kind of vibe…then moved on to "Ammaring"…"Get Me"…and whatever the beautiful song was he played right before "Repulsion", I should probably know what it was but I was pretty far into my Corona by that point—can someone help me out with the title?…by the time he got to "Wagon" I was definitely ready to leave right after that because I was becoming too emotional to be out in public Did not run into anyone from the board, but maybe next time.

The opener (Chris Brokaw) I would give a B or B+, he was good but it’s hard for one guy playing solo guitar to open for J when you know you are going to see a master with a trademark style in a few minutes. Chris just seemed a bit watered down.

Hey Squeapler,

Thanks for the review, with you on the emotional thing…J’s songs can just knock you right over sometimes!!! Sounds like he played some new stuff…too cool

Too bad you didn’t run into anyone from the site, fingers crossed they find their way back to add to your cool review

J played a song that I believe was called Freedom first, then he played the usual stuff but of course it was very special and I was in the second row of people so I was really blown away. Not much more else to say, it was amazing and it was completely opposite of the last Black Cat show I saw where Issac Brock ran his mouth constantly. I don’t even recall if he said hello when he came out. Someone shouted ‘Thank you J whoooo’ after one song and J simply looked at the floor and said "no thank you." People were really in his face with the flash photography, it blinded me as well as him I’m sure. The tape loop thing was crazy. I have a semi complete setlist I’ll put up later. Wow.
