OriginalPosterLostParticipantAlright! I finally figured out how to use this thing but anyways, the Toronto show was unbelievable. I’ve seen J four times now and I swear they get better with every show.
He was on the alt rock radio station around 7 o’clock and him and Watt played a great rendition of Sameday. It was primarily acoustic but as the song progressed J pulled out his electric and wailed away some noisy solos. The Third Eye Blind fans, must’ve been like, "what in the heck is that noise, buddy ol’ pal" Anyways, the show itself kicked ass! The highlights had to have been Im Not Fine, More Light, and Just Like Heaven. Mike Watt clearly adds a new dimension to the J performance. At one point he was actually bopping and slobbering at the same time…amazing! I got the drum stick, but the highlight of the day had to be a J quote from the radio interview. In it he said, "I think we’ll play 8 songs, and then some others" The dj asked what he was planning on playing that night…A great answer to a stupid question! See Ya!

OriginalPosterLostParticipantHey Gibby,
Oh you lucky Canadian, sounds like it was a great show…More Light was one of my fav’s when I saw them in Minneapolis. Severed Lips was a close 2nd, actually I think it was a tie for 2nd with the rest of the set….agree with how great the shows are….amazing.

OriginalPosterLostParticipantHey Gibby go easy on "the dj" from edge 102. He is none other than Dave Bookman, a fossil indie rock officianado. He is also a self proclaimed vigilant follower of dinosaur jr. I thought the way he handled the brief interview was sparkling, I mean the guy was practically gushing but he maintained his cool. He started by playing a clip from the dave letterman show from like ’96 and letterman says " here’s the band all you crazy kids love dinosaur jr" and the fans go crazy. This totally brought a smile to J’s face. Than he started talking about how much dinojr has meant to music and he asked "I would love to ask you where you been, but i guess I should ask you where’d you go?" J just started to laugh. He did ask about the set list, and then requested raisins himself, and you know what, J played raisins. He finished up talking about how meeting J has brought his music collection to life, in general it was cool. I’ve never seen J smile so much. And yeah the live gig absolutely rocked no no ROCKED!

OriginalPosterLostParticipantYeah Toddo that was me, I think I saw you too weren’t you that guy who was wearing a pink beret in your hair, and you started singing In A Jar, when it was really Raisans…yeah, I think that was you. Anyways, thats so cool that you got the setlist, thanks for posting it….. you too, are a cool Canuck!

SawatsParticipantHey Gibby and Keats, weren’t you those little 5 feet tall guys that I was standing in front of at the concert??? Stealing all the souvenirs and leaving nothing for me. If I was a foot shorter maybe I would have got something eh?
As for the show it was brilliant. I’ve seen him 3 times now and I would have to say it was the best one just because of Watt and the fact I was 1 foot from the stage with no barriers.
And the radio event ruled. At one point the station was totally overun with a J solo and, as Gibby aluded to, if some dorky teen looking for a fucking Goo Goo Dolls song turned on the station they would be pleasantly awakened to real music. Although I am sure these people just turned the station right away. And I agree about the DJ. I would be nervous as shit asking him questions too. Especially considering the way he answers questions! "Sammy Davis!!!"
