A funny thing happened the other night. I was at the Italianfest (I never knew there was a significant Italian population, much less one that would neccesitate an Italianfest) with Friend Sara and Friend Mandi. Three kids in Chuck Taylors and Dark Glasses wasting another Saturday. So we’re wandering up and down the mainstreet of beautiful Dogwater, looking about when we spot this Poster/Framing store. There’s a guy in the door talking to somebody, so we figgur the shop’s still open. The guy in the door (apparently the owner) tellsus the store has been closed, that he has
no idea who owns the store, and that he’s going to give us the best tortalini soup we’ve ever had. So he pours three bowls of pretty damned good soup, Then says "and to top it off, some wine!"

I should mention, I do not look like a college student. I still get hit on by freshmen every blue moon. And both of my comrads are eighteen.

His wife (apparantly smarter than he) say "are you. . .sure they’re old enough?" "O sure, they showed me their I.D’s years ago, they’ve just had some facelifts (carries on)"

So, we got good soup, terrible wine (couldn’t make it past two sips), a few good laughs, and a bit freaked out. Not bad for a Saturday evening, eh?

Pretty sure she writes it "Mandi" But don’t ask for the logic behind it. She’s kind of mad at me right now tho.

If a guy knows a friend is planning on breaking up with another friend, should he tell her?

Would that be Thomas Cranmer, burned at the stake? I don’t respect religious figures, but in the context of the times, I will forgive old Tom. And it also happens that I am one of, I imagine, thousands of his descendents. My great-grandmother’s maiden name was even Cranmer. It’s all very ironic, though that’s probably not apparent to anyone else.

Godsdammit! I guess a full disclosure is in order here.

Friend Ian told me two weeks ago that he was planning on breaking up with friend Sara. Actually what he said was "tommorow I’m going to break up with Sara" He then went on to cite various reasons for this decision, including her apparent disinterist in him, her constantly pestering him to get a job (these aren’t all good reasons, they’re his), etc. Well, that was two weeks ago, and I feel rather bad for Sara, being drug around like this.

So last Saturday, I decide it’s for Sara’s benifit if she knows what’s up. Added incentive was provided by Mandi, who apparently had the rumour mill on me. So I told her. About the first thing she said was, "And I was going to buy him a hamster."

And apparently Ian will never see his Get Up Kids T back

oops unnecessary advice given and unheeded, still i woulda let sara tell her and not deal with fallout, whatever, what do i know, i never even been in an olive garden… so are ya currently speaking to her, is she speaking to you? oh and most importantly did ian dump her or not? i ask cuz i seem to ‘member malkie didn’t ya mention a while back that you have a wee crush on this "friend" mandi? be evil, spray paint yer chuckies and take more than a few sips of cheap wine, after like three you don’t notice how nasty it is…

Aye, no, Mandi and Amanda are two different people. And it was hardly a "wee" crush. Amanda’s, according to the rumour mill, currently after a friend of mine who still plays wargames and reads comic books. That smarts.

Sara and I are still getting along, although she has an open and exagerated hatred of all "men." She sounds like Ms. Barch from Daria. Sara dumped Ian that night, then proceeded to get hammered. I’ll have to add more details later, time to go home.

[QB]Br, just what makes it so ironic to you? Poor guy, he was just a player, and some wind caught his eyebrows to singing. Religious?

Religious in the fact that he was Archbishop of Canterbury, the highest religious position in England. "Position" sounds political, but it certainly was. Also for the fact he was executed for "religious" reasons. It’s ironic to me because I have utter disdain for all things religious. My great-grandfather was a minister too. I don’t think he would be happy with me.
