OriginalPosterLostParticipantJohn Peel’s Radio 1 "Festive 50" show included 3 Fog tracks on Tuesday. I got home late and only caught the last few seconds! Sorry! Anyone record it? I believe they did three covers; a Teenage Fanclub track, a Pavement track and one other.

OriginalPosterLostParticipanti got it on tape, it sounds pretty cool, fairly long solo in the middle where you can hear j using the fuzz probe..
i’ll be willing to trade a tape of that and the xfm session for some of your boots…

OriginalPosterLostParticipantSo did anyone hear the john peel session last night (the 10th)? a joyfully shoddy version of waistin’ (as it should be) and a fuzz-filled ammaring were both easily outshone by back before you go.. hear mike bark those backing vocals, someone throw that guy a bone….
i need more light…January 12, 2001 at 5:37 pm #54134
OriginalPosterLostParticipantdoes anyone have the ability to make mp3s of the rest of the session. I love that everything flows medley, I’m actually surprised that J has heard any music since the mid-80’s
January 12, 2001 at 6:44 pm #54135
AGAPParticipantI would love to hear those tunes as well!!
Why are you surprised J listens to new music past the mid 80’s, it sounds like he listens to tons of stuff new and old. Just curious Bob.Allison
Curious in a what have you heard way not a what the **** are you talking about way…just want to be clear.

OriginalPosterLostParticipantHey Bob,
Thanks for the explanation, thing about stereotypes is they are usually not fact based. Sometimes its hard to get past your fav’s, I listen to lots of new music but not a lot reaches the threshold established by what I consider the best of the best. I think the music speaks louder than anything else where Mascis is concerned.

OriginalPosterLostParticipantAlison,
I knew the stereotype was just that but I think it’s part of the charm of J to think of him as this guy who is out of touch and has no idea what’s going on outside his house.

OriginalPosterLostParticipantIt seems that besides My Bloody Valentine he never really mentions any music newer than the mid 80s. But lately he has been mentioning a lot of newer stuff like built to spill and guided by voices.
It just seemed to fit with a stereotype about his personality. That he never leaves his house much and just listens to old records. I was slightly surprised that he had a cd player.

OriginalPosterLostParticipantI’ll put them up on myspace (there is already one track there) this weekend. Since you apparently have some boots yourself, can we expect to some uploads from you
