myonicsParticipantHey everyone,
I’m new to the board although this is my second post. I’d been watching for a few months before I actually had the balls to come on and post something. I’ve been a Dino fan for four years now, ever since I read their chapter in "Our Band Could Be Your Life" (one of my favorite books). Before I bought YLAOM my only knowledge of Dino’s sound had been their contribution to the Beat The Retreat (Richard Thompson tribute) album, "I Misunderstood." I used to think it sucked – but I was always puzzled how this J Mascis character played all those instruments at the same time! (This was before I knew what overdubbing was…) From YLAOM I’ve bought every one (save for Free so Free) and I could safely say that Hand It Over got me through my second semester at college. I love all the albums – save for maybe Without A Sound, and even that one I have warmed to as well. I saw the reunion when they hit LA in August – great show even though J "had a cold." Glad to be here!By the way, I’ve since relistened to "I Misunderstood" and I now love the fucking thing, especially the extreme guitar wankery at the end. I love J Mascis.
