MattmanParticipantOK, fellow Freaksceners…
Here’s a little bit of fun holiday trickery. I’ll start from the beginning…
It all started many Christmases ago, when my cousin (Josh) decided to laminate one of my gifts in a nigh impenetrable layer of clear tape. Must’ve taken me 15 minutes to pick through it and get to my gift. Ever since then, we have had a constant race to come up with the most clever gift wrapping wackiness we can possibly pull off.
Unfortunately, over time, our poor sisters have become the primary targets of our experiments.
Here are a few examples, 2 years ago, I bought my sister a CD she had been wanting as a gift. Not content to just wrap it and stick it under the tree, I got a large shoebox and filled it with my dad’s old (and heavy) highschool yearbook. I then wrapped the CD and taped it to the bottom of the shoebox lid. After that, I wrapped the entire shoebox and put it under the tree… Come Christmas morning, my sister tore open the package, and unknowingly flung the boxlid to the side, to be greeted with nothing but the old yearbooks… She then had to hunt down the cast aside lid to find her gift attached to the lid…
The next year, playing on the previous idea, I got even more elaborate… Once again, she dropped hints of a CD she’d been wanting. This time, I knew she’d be careful to check the bottom of the box lid, so I came up with a plan to mislead her yet again… I got ahold of a much larger box, the kind that office paper comes in. I then proceeded to buy several roles of toiletpaper. I then wrapped an empty CD case and taped that to the lid. In the empty case was a little note telling her to try again. I wrapped the real gift in white tissue paper, placed it in the bottom of the box and proceeded to cover it with the many rolls of toiletpaper. It worked like a charm, she fell for the decoy right away, and had to dig for the real gift…
I don’t remember off hand what all my cousin has done to his sister in this regard, but one of the most wicked things he did was to poke many many nails out of the box he wrapped it in, in order to keep her from shaking the package…
Anyway, the point of all this is… Do any of you have any similar stories? Even if you don’t, can you think of any good ideas for future holiday times?
This year, I’ve gotten my sister a larger gift, about half the size of a shoebox, and so I have to think of something to top last years plan, and I’m having some trouble…
Even if it wont work for this particular gift, I’d be lots of fun to hear your ideas and stories, if you have then…
