OriginalPosterLostParticipantIs it just me or is there some major parallels going on in music and our lives. Wayne Coyne says it’s just an illusion caused by the world spinning around. It’s like someone investigated every word I ever said, or even typed onto icq/aim/bbs’ for that matter. I know for a fact I have been ground into the fodder that is bands such as coldplay, chevelle, saliva…I pose this question in a serious manner. I would be selfish to say it is always about me. Musicians need butts to write on and that’s no biggie. "They say freak, when you’re singled out, the read, filters thru". Someone here on freakscene got singled out. The guitar player from Zwan had a V-shirt on for godsakes. I teed a V but it looks like all the humor has been wiped out by the franchise which is terrorism. I mean it was practically 911 inches long. I realize many won’t know what I am talking about. It’s very hard to explain. It’s like a thick paranoia that something is so wrong, that you look to stars to help you on your way way. Once you get one song written to you every song starts to take the same angle. I haven’t articulated myself very well. Maybe I am so tapped into the mainstream conscious every frontman is being me.
Has anyone else thought a song was written about them or thought they were a center without a scene, per se, when every scene needs a center? Has anyone ever felt like a musician wrote that for me?I was actually just woken up by a song. My girl at the time asked me, "well you’ve been apathetic all night and now that he gets here you have all this energy. Are you gay or soemthing?" Coldplay – clocks, You Are….tiger waiting to be tamed….i said "I like Moses". That is repeated in the Coldplay – Moses song.
I killed you i’m not gonna crack…..

Yeah,it`s called This Thing Nowhere or something.I was listening to it the other day and I thought about how that lyric is similar to Puke And Cry.They do a Lou Barlow song on that album so they kinda gave away that they like Dino

I wonder why J decided to call it More Light. Help me remember, Den Bucky Ramone. Who’s final words were more Light?
The Lou song is Healthy Sick, the one she sings that magic sometimes can be boring.
J called it More Light because of The Fog.What do you need when there`s fog?More light!
Teenage Riot is about J as president of America

duaneParticipantHalarious but, nah, you’d never wanna sent weed over there. C’mon, instead of keeping the peace, they’d be "….screw it….. I’ll do it tomorrow…..where’s the marshmellows…."

Wanting another shutter opened to the morning sun, the author of Faust called to a servant for "More light!" Quote:Is it just me or is there some major parallels going on in music and our lives.I think I can answer this one. There are major parallels going on between our lives and our lives. Music just may happen to be a part of your life, thereby making the parallel. In other words its not the music that is making the parallel it is just yourself making the parallel. Does that make sense?.

ummmmmm, NO, I have never felt that way but I would definitely encourage you to share that thought with a therapist.
For example I like the way Mr. Mascis writes songs probably because I can relate to them. With many of his songs I am able to fit each and every word into some context of my life, I mean most are loose ended and open for interpretation. (unlike say some country and western song like "The Family Tree" by Loretta Lynn.) But for me to think that on some level J Mascis WROTE a song for ME, that would be grounds for medication.
hold up wait a minute There is a guy here named Pesto he has stated he believes most of the early Dinosaur repertoire was written about him………..running to the washroom now

SGParticipantI used to think Pesto was Deepsludge
December 14, 2005 at 5:57 pm #113450
AnnastefkaParticipantNo dude, up until this thread Deepsludge’s posts have been comprehendible unlike Pestos, also the two post very differently. Sentence stucture, choice of words, use of Capital letters and quotes etc…. plus DeepSludge has yet to start bitchin’ about Murph something Pesto can’t seem to control.
Pesto has posted under a different name…let me see I forget it, but let me go look…..(my husband is cooking and tending the fireplace tonight so I am allowed some free so free time) zzutak under the "This is no dis" that’s Pesto…..
any clues you may have come across that could change my opinions please do share.
OH, it just dawned on me perhaps you meant Deepsludge metaphorically and not literally,
, I was a little slow.

In addition, Pesto is trippin. That’s all I have to say about that.

AnnastefkaParticipantDeepsludge, please forgive me, just aiming to have a little fun at your expense!
1) Therapists can be very helpful, Many years ago I was on the other side of an addiction only to have a child diagnosed with Autism, have my husband in the middle of an expensive law suit, discovered he had a lover on the side, and had my Mother die unexpectically in a hotel room in another city, all with in a few months.
I have lots of friends but needed an outsider to give me a better perspective. If you are telling us you are just getting over an addiction
and yet putting back a couple quarts of beer on a Wednesday night something is unsettled inside you. Of course I could go on and preach that until we put as much work into our soul that we do into our everyday life then we tend to feel unsettled butthe real good news is that there is a connection between you and me and J Mascis and Pesto and SG and glass ceiling (Fata) and on and on………and you are correct it feels a bit like a conspiracy, it’s called The Indra’s Net….you see J Mascis has written all of his songs for me and
me and me and me and me and me and me and me………………………….and on it goes. My other interest (beyond J Mascis) is Robert Anton Wilson, he has the whole indra’s net thing down into an understandable piece so check out some of his writing. After reading him you definitely will not see the world in the same way. Also Buddhism is based upon this fact. So don’t worry, it is all connected and I have to get back to work…………….I address the question mark before or after the period later, I did however realise I had done it, I was just to lazy to go back and correct it.

, In fact if I had to choose who I would want to spend the a day with the most picking away at their brain, Mascis or Wilson, that would a hard choice………

fata morganaParticipantHey Annastefka, I think therapy is good when you have too much on your plate–doesn’t everything seem to happen all at once, though?. and you can’t necessarily talk to anyone involved in the reason why you need therapy in the first place….Â
