I thought the reunion would be over by now but they`re doing ATP in the spring…
I`m starting to think J`s new album will be with Lou and Murph under the mighty Dino name :)

I won’t get my hopes up either but I don’t see why not. The guys are 40 now. They have a good five years they can really rock before they become the rolling stones or something. They should make an album with like 4 Lou songs, 6 J songs and two either together or some of murphs ideas or experimental. And have guests like Mike Watt, Dave Schools, Kyle Spence, Kevin Shields, Sonic Youth or George on a couple tracks. The album would sell better than anything in the last 10 years either of them has done and they could do another tour and make as much as they possible can for their families and futures. And than split up and do their own solo stuff. Their is always time for them to do solo stuff. I mean J can always make up his songs and he doesn’t "need" Lou or Murph but what the hell he can always play with Witch or a form of Fog or Corecraft when he wants. And they should tour with some better openers like get MBV back together or with QOTSA or Sonic Youth or other bands that will bring back the old school and get them more fans. But I guess they would have to share the money and would make less.

Yeah, wow, this would rule. I said at the start that I didn’t want to get my hopes up for new material and would be just fine with J and Lou continuing to just spit out solo stuff but I’ve changed my mind. After watching those guys over the summer, I’d love them to do something new.

Also encouraging from Lou’s news: "you never know when I’ll be able to show up between Dino-saur-obligations." Translation: "I’ll be so busy with Dinosaur that I can’t just show up whenever but I might be able to fit in a solo gig or two." My translation, anyway. :)

Ammaring- why have a reunion album with the three guys and then have all of those guests? That would be a mess. Do you ever listen to "Ball Hog or Tugboat" anymore? And if MBV got back together I think Dinosaur would be opening for them. They’d definitly be opening for QOTSA or Sonic Youth. That’s not the way I’d like it, but that’s the way it is.

I just hope they record the album (*if* they do) in a proper studio to get that fuller, more spacious "room" sound that older recordings have. All the great new technology enables guys like J and Lou (and thousands of others) to record good-sounding albums at home, which keeps their careers going, but they’re always missing that sense of space and mass that comes from laying down tracks in a larger room. The J, Lou, Murph lineup with an album that sounds as good as "Where You Been" would be just perfect.

kracked- I think it would be that way, but I’m not saying I like it. Sonic Youth have seniority now because they never broke up or diluted the band name as J did when he called every post Lou line up Dinosaur. QOTSA are the latest critical darling hipster band (maybe not so much now) and their appeal is much more widespread than the Dino reunion. And a MBV reunion would blow the minds of every Mojo type rock snob to such an extent that only a Beatles reunion could headline over them.

Maybe I’m being a little over the top but you get my point. Just because we love Dinosaur so much does not mean that the rest of the world does. If it was up to me Dino would headline Live 8 or whatever.

haha i dont know about that. i dont think lou is pressuring j into anything.

Queens of the Stone Age ?? Ugh. They completely suck. Seriously. They SUCK. They "rock" about has hard as a 90 year-old’s limp dick.

I shudder to think that they’d even remotely entertain being associated with them. :o

And even in the heyday of Green Mind, Dino opened for MBV. I’d love to see a tour w/ SY, however. Watt would be a more logical choice as an opener.

I concur. Queens of the Stone Age bore the shit out of me.

They should tour with Nebula — when I saw Nebula open for the Fog, it made perfect sense. And the last Nebula show I saw a few months ago was a total shredder.
