rspacemanParticipantwow, I’m actually debating going to the central park gig now. thats a high ticket price and INSANE service charges!
April 19, 2005 at 2:26 pm #108917
kracked873Participantfor some reason i think that specific gig is more expensive than the rest
April 23, 2005 at 11:47 am #108918
RichParticipantYes I plan on going to the gig too, if I can get some cash together, luckily I’m willing to give up some vices to get it, I just have so much planned before hand like a trip to New Orleans and all that, so hopefully I’ll be able to attend, you know what fuck it I NEED TO ATTEND, and will be attending, and I promise all my freakscene fans I will be as drunk as ever!

intodeepParticipanti was surprised when i logged on to buy tickets today also. I am going to go to the Atlanta show at the Variety Playhouse. The 28.50 for the cost of the show was higher then I thought it would be, but I did not think it was too bad. The 4.50 service fee is on par with a ticketbastard fee (but they add on a convienance fee on top of the service fee too). So i was still on board and i was about to buy, but the only option for getting my ticket for this show was UPS delivery….. another 7.50. There was no way I saw to select will call or normal mail. I must be doing something wrong.
So I have decided to wait until next friday to get a ticket from the Variety playhouse ticket club. They usually charge like 1.50-3.00 extra on top of the ticket price so I’ll roll the dice and hope i can get tickets next friday when they go on sale.
Kinda disapointed i was hoping to get my tickets ordered today
I hope it does not sell out to quick next week.

I’m right with you. I actually think it’s pretty outrageous. First, the raw price of the ticket is STEEP. But fine, they want to cash in and the Pixies got away with charging high prices, so Dino can too. I can get past it. But to have the ticketing agency ONLY allow you to buy the tickets via UPS for $7-$8 an order, that’s just ridiculous, borderline abusive. I sent them (the ticketing website) a feedback email about it, and they responded with a very bland statement that UPS is the only feasible option because it allows them to track receipt. Well, for all their faults, ticketmaster and ticketweb ship tickets out over regular US Mail all the time. I would encourage anyone who feels ripped off by it to email at http://dinosaurjr.baselineticketing.com/corp/contact.php”>http://dinosaurjr.baselineticketing.com … ontact.php or [email protected]
Maybe also send email to the band contacts listed at dinosaurjr.com
I’m all for those guys cashing in finally for the good music, but be reasonable.

It does seem like Will Call could be an option, I’m not sure why it’s not. Either way, this is still WAY below what Ticketmaster would charge and I’m fine with the cost of shipping especially since I was able to combine the shipping of two shows into one shipment. I’m paying about $1.88/ticket for my four tickets which I can totally live with.

rspacemanParticipantactually ticketmaster is cheaper.

NCDanParticipantYou really should just be happy to get the chance to see the BEST BAND EVER! Get your tickets now, because if the shows sell out, you will be either left out or paying more to a scalper.

Get your tickets now, because if the shows sell out, you will be either left out or paying more to a scalper.yours isn’t really a helpful post, but the original news item on dinojr.com did say that the online ticketing site will have "an allotment of tickets", which is usually how the band-sponsored pre-sales go. that means that in a week or two, tickets will go on-sale via the venue directly and/or via the venue’s chosen ticket agent (usually ticketmaster or ticketweb).
in my case, for the philadelphia show, i may just decide that the abusive shipping policy of the pre-sale site is too much, and hold out for buying them at the TLA box office (which sells electric factory tickets). if i get left out, i guess ‘oh well’.

I’m seeing about 6 shows over the next month so i’m familar with a lot of ticketbastard’s current prices. I think the price will be close to the same. THe 4.50 fee they are charging for a service charge is in line with what ticketbastard charges. Ticketbastard then charges a "convienance fee" usually another 3.50 or so.
The pre sale tickets are not bad for a price, its the shipping that hikes the price up. I’m only getting one ticket so i’m paying that 7.50 all myself…. that makes the ticket a bit pricey. As someone else mentioned i’m waiting for the venue to put them on sale and i’ll pay them their usual 2 dollar ticket fee and be quite happy skipping the middle man’s extra fees.
All in all i feel i will get a ticket at a decent price and see one of the best shows of the year

I am just up in the air as far as going. I have seen the guys back in the day, inbetween in various forms, and J about 4 times in the past two years so………unlike NCDan, I can take it or leave it. I always believe in supporting the band, I have been spoiled over the past few years. I will sleep on it over the next few days.
