AnnastefkaParticipantWow, I just got back from LEAF http://www.theleaf.com and I feel great.
No, rambleon, no photos of me because I used up all of my film on you know who. More on that later. I love J’s music but I am a real nut when it comes to bluegrass, Gosh, I saw so many great musicians this weekend. One of my favorite albums is a bluegrass cover of Beatles songs. All weekend I was thinking "Gosh, I wish someone would do a bluegrass J/Dinosaur. A little guitar, a little banjo, hmmmm, but what song should be first.May 10, 2004 at 11:12 am #101463

FlyingCloudParticipantsounds like a cool festival. and anthony is right, there is a banjo used in Gettin’ Rough on Hand It Over, although I don’t know if that’s exactly bluegrass.
Would be cool and interesting J would explre these native musical styles moreMay 10, 2004 at 3:48 pm #101465
AnnastefkaParticipantyeah, A little like Gettin’ Rough, but as flying cloud said a little more true blue. Like get a young bluegrass group like the Duhks to cover say Green Mind. A banjo yes but got to have a smokin’ fiddle also. I don’t know if this link will work and this belongs in another topic really but http://www.duhks.com/index.html”>http://www.duhks.com/index.html the video stuff is crappy (soundwise) but if you get a chance check these guys ( very northern of me) out.

AnnastefkaParticipantOkay, I am pushing my luck, dragging out this topic. If you go to the Duhks link above, go to music and go to the mp3 The Leather Winged Bat, because that is a song that many of us growing up down south know by heart. My favorite as a young child.
Leather-Winged Bat (Bird Courting Song)
Appalachian folk song"Hi," said the little brown leather winged bat,
"I’ll tell you the reason that,
the reason that I fly in the night’s
because I lost my heart’s delight."chorus
How-dee dow-dee diddle o day,
How-dee dow-dee diddle o day,
How-dee dow-dee diddle o day,
How-dow dee-di die do-do."Hi," said the woodpecker, sittin’ on a fence,
"Once I courted a handsome finch.
She got sulky and from me fled,
ever since then my head’s been red.""Hi," said the little white morning dove,
"I’ll tell you how to regain your love.
Court her by night and court her by day,
never give her time to say, ‘Oh, Nay!’"

FlyingCloudParticipanthey Annastefka, I checked out the recommended song, and I think it’s cool. A respectful version of a good traditional song
P.S. I’ve never seen that anyone said something about when people are posting off-topic. and after all, it’s the topic you started yourself
