OriginalPosterLostParticipantMy biggest Dino dream would be some official live releases. Maybe a box set or something. Documenting the Dino live development through the years. There’s probably too much legal hassle to make this happen, ‘cuz of the different labels and such, but it would be great if it did. Kinda strange really that it hasn’t been released a single official live album. After all J is kinda famous for his guitar playing. I remember there was some buzz concerning this, at least in EuropeScandinavia, when the BBC sessions was released. Been quiet ever since though…

An album called "JayLouMurph" was issued in 1989 – as an "official bootleg".
It was available in shops but was a very limited edition CD release.
I contacted someone at Strange Fruit when the BBC Sessions were being organised and basically what happened was that the BBC sent J all the Dinosaur Jr stuff that they had rights to and he choose the material he wanted on the release.
The material he was sent did include live material (you’ll see that the live tracks on the "I Don’t Think So" single were recorded by BBC and I think a radio broadcast of about 8 songs was played at the time).
I’m sure a live album through Strange Fruit will come out at some point.

OriginalPosterLostParticipantHi.
Yea, I got "JayLouMurph" as a CDr copy. I’m just eager for more. Great input on the JBBCStrange Fruit deal! Would be cool if Strange Fruit released a live album. The "I Don’t Think So" single has a great version of "What Else Is New" hasn’t it? Same as on the "Australasian" tour cd if my memory serves me right.

OriginalPosterLostParticipantPersonally I enjoy the MP3s from a late eighties Scotland show that are on this site but maybe I am just masochistic…
They REALLY could piss an audience off back then!!

OriginalPosterLostParticipantThat is definately one of my favorites. Great selection of covers. From what I’ve heard about that show, the audience was already pretty pissed so they just started playing whatever they wanted.

jeremiahKeymasterYou guys keep this in mind *
Last time I spoke to J he said that they had been recording most of the Fog shows and they are thinking about releasing a live album! This may just happen for us! I also put in my vote for a video collection too

Could care less about a videography, but a live box set, or, god willing, a Pearl Jam "American Touring Band 2000"esque DVD would be delightful.

rdParticipantBeing as thought I have never seen a Dinosaur Jr./J Mascis & the Fog video on tv, I would love to see a video collection. But having seen the Fog live 4 times so far (never got to see Dino live) I would also love to see a live video. It would be great it they could throw both the videos and live concert performances on a DVD, along with possibly some tv performances (like the Letterman performances and even when they were on the Jon Stewart show).
Having paid a TON for several Dino bootlegs I would really like it if J could release a live cd or so. It would be nice if he could release several live performances, but not to the extent that Pearl Jam has. I mean 70+ discs. That is kind of ripping their hardcore fans off. At roughly $14 per disc, I know their double discs, but $14 times 70+, now that is alot of money for those fans who want everthing PJ (just like I want everything that J has released). But I wouldn’t mind it if J could put out maybe 10 live discs.
I know Ultimatum Record doesn’t have anything close to Sony’s money so I’m not keeping my hopes up for a video collection or a live disc.
If a live disc is never released it would be nice if J could at least let Jeremiah post them or let the live performances be posted at the Ultimatum webpage. Their all ready recorded, mind as well get them out some way. Heck he could even maybe put them on the Emusic webpage and have them downloaded for a fee or something.

AGAPParticipantI would love to see a video collection as well, the DVD suggestion would be amazing if it happened!!!
I would pay for live show downloads no problem…definitely.

OriginalPosterLostParticipantA video collection would be nice VHS or DVD (DVD please)
I hope this happens!June 1, 2001 at 9:54 am #53232
RobertParticipantI agree that the Pearl Jam way of doing it could be to intense and cost a shitload of money. Downloading for a fee would be ok. But the best would ofcourse be normal releases – I really love the DinoJ artwork!
As for DVDVHS -bring it on! I’ll buy it whatsoever!
Man, it would really be great if some official releases would surface after the first Fog tour! Posting it on the freakscene ftp, would be a good second option. I also urge those out there who has recordings of these shows to post them!! I’ve been cruising the net, and I know it’s out there. So to anyone who happens to have some live Fog -you know what to do June 1, 2001 at 1:44 pm #53233
jeremiahKeymasterHere Watt mentions the recordings too
