lethrneck4Participantim gonna be going to the dino show at central park. according to the website, it says to enter the park at 69th street and 5th ave. im gonna be arriving at grand central, which i know is like 42nd st i think. i remember last time i went to a show at central park, i ended up walking to the park entrance from grand central. i also remember it being a good hike to walk all the way there, especially in the summer heat.
my question is what subway would i take to get to the 69th and 5th entrance of the park from grand central? would it be worth it to just take a cab??
any help would be great!

rambleonParticipantwell, 20 city blocks is a mile, so even if you end up walking it it’s not too far …
hopefully the weather will be good for you as well …

King TubbyParticipantYour best bet would be to take a 6 train to 68th St. (which roughly crosses 6th Ave.) and then walk west to 5th Ave. That’s the only direct route to where you want to go from Grand Central — there are other ways to take subways that would plant you closer to where you want to be (though not *that* much closer), but if you’re unfamiliar with the system I wouldn’t recommend going through the transfers required.
You’re really planning ahead, eh?

lethrneck4Participanthaha, yeah, im makin sure i got everything i need to know down before i go! thanks for the help, the 6 train sound good, im sure i can find my way there once i get off. maybe ill just walk it, depends how hot it is. i went to see sonic youth there a few years ago and walked from grand central. it probably woudlnt have been a bad walk if it wasnt like 100 degrees outside, plus all the stopping you have to do for lights and people nearly doubles the time it would take to walk straight thru, then having to stand for hours in the park in that heat. i figured i find a way to cut down on some of it. cant wait though, its gonna kick ass!!
