jkj06ParticipantI am about to buy my first Dinosaur Jr album today but need some direction. They are coming to Brisbane in a couple of weeks and I have bought some tickets, but what album should I listen to first. I have only really heard their hits that have been played on JJJ.
Is it worth getting the Best of? or should I start somewhere else?

AGAPParticipantif you mean the Japanese Dinosaur Jr best of Zombie Worm, which is a mix of the 1st 3 albums, then yeah, thats definitely a great place to start. So far they’ve been playing stuff off the first three albums, plus Water from Green Mind, so any one of the 1st 3 is a good deal as well.
Don’t forget Freesofree.net, you can download all kinds of recent shows to get a feel for the songs & set lists so far.
Enjoy the show!

my name is lisaParticipantI remember getting my first Dino cd…I was 13 and had to send away for YLAOM from SST…a couple weeks later I got the Just Like Heaven single cause I had heard it on one of the New Haven college stations…then a couple weeks later I got Bug…
Yeah, SST got a lot of my babysittin’ moneyFebruary 19, 2006 at 9:06 am #114877
Slope1988ParticipantI would start with Bug first because this is the album that will get you the most excited in a musical sense to see the band live.

kracked873Participantyeah you’re living all over me, they play pretty much every song of that album at every show. plus its just a mind blowing album when you first get into it, but thats pretty much true for every dinosaur album.

rage:manParticipantnot only that, but its their most accessible. atleast for me it was. Green Mind takes a couple listens.

andyfestParticipantBy the way, great question. I like the answer about Bug. I think YLAOM is the best of the early stuff but Bug has a certain accessibility to it that might make it more appealing. What it comes down to is that you need both albums.
