AnnastefkaParticipantHappened today, Other than seeing J play, which is always a favorite moment, I had an great thing happen today………………….
I drove out to Earthsong today, which is a "hippie" community outside of Athens. My daughter was spending the night with her good friend Sara. To get to Earthsong you have to go down several dirt roads with names like Savage, Rat Kinney, and Big Bear. I finally pulled into the driveway and my CD was in the middle of "Start Choppin" when I turned off the car. I wasn’t sure where the children were, down by the swimmin’ hole or in the school house, in the main house or in the outdoor kitchen. So I started walking and usually you can hear the children laughing or yelling. I whistled but got no reply, they have 90 acres so I cupped my eagle ear once more and heard music coming from one of the cabins I headed that way as I got closer I could hear the music was full blast. As I got to the door I could hear it was J singing , the song was "Start Choppin’" I threw open the door and there was this group of 14 an 15 year old kids "rockin" out to J. However I thought at first they had gone to my car and pulled my CD and said something uncool like "whats going on? Is this a joke" They seemed baffled. "Did you take that from my car?" "No Mama, Sara and her friends are way into Dinosaur Jr." "Thats crazy because" start chopping" is the song thats playing in my car right now" The kids followed me up to my car got in and I drove them to a pool party and won the "coolest Mom of the year award" One of the boys asked me if I had any "unusual" Dinosaur Jr. stuff, and I told him "Y’all just hit the Mother load very cool moment in time!!!!! Oh a link to Earthsong http://earthsong.cc/index.html Sara’s Mother is in a well known (around here) band and her Dad a Lawyer. Check out Earthsong. Dinosaur Jr. moves down to the next generation. (had to edit out the typos)

AnnastefkaParticipantYeah and my husband actually had a funny moment this morning so the story continues.
At breakfast he asked the kids if they had heard the "latest" recordings of J Mascis. Juan said "I bet you haven’t because we have a inside connection and we are some of the only people to have a copy of this stuff because he is still working on it" then he went and played the strangest Woody Guthrie song I have ever heard. It took the girls about 40 seconds before they "caught" the joke.
Sorry, I should have stopped her from posting because you can see that even though they are fans they are still just "little girls" well we are off the the pool, enjoy your Sunday, and if you feel like it don’t forget to Thank God for your blessings today, (everyday is good for thanksgiving but Sundays are so special)March 14, 2006 at 4:51 am #112116
