SGParticipantHave you ever heard a song and realized it sounds like another song?alot of songs sound alike I know but sometimes an old song gets recycled into a new song,here`s some examples:
Pavement-In The Mouth A Desert-There was a pop song in the early 80`s that sounded like the guitar solo bit from that,I don`t remember what song it was,if anyone knows please tell me.
-Brinx Job-sounds like Blood,Sweat, and Tears-`Spinning Wheel`.
-Silent Kid-sounds like a Buddy Holly song.
Bif Naked-Jaron,maybe you can help me with this,I heard a song by her on the radio,don`t know the name but it`s a rip off of the Smashing Pumpkins-`Today`;she just changed the lyrics.
Sonic Youth-Little Trouble Girl-A Shangri la`s rip off,right down to quoting`Give him a great big kiss`-"close,very close"-that lyric was in both of those songs.
Derek And The Dominoes-Layla-pretty famous classic rock song;would you believe it`s a jazz tune rip off!There`s a jazz piece by Duke Ellington called `Pyramid`;the second part of `Layla` ,the instrumental part towards the end sounds suspiciously like `Pyramid`.
Nirvana-Smells Like Teen Spirit-the grunge anthem sounds alot like Boston`s ‘More Than A Feeling`;I think Kurt did this as a joke to poke fun at classic rock.Anyone have any more songs to add?

everyonelovesjaronParticipantDunno if there are any radiohead fans amongst us but their current single Knives Out is remarkably similar to Paranoid Android…
*lists like 4,000,000,000 rap songs stolen from one another*

SGParticipantThought up another song comparison;
Shellac`s`The Admiral` and PJ Harvey`s `Victory` sound incredibly alike;the bass line is almost exact.
But since Shellac`s Steve Albini and PJ harvey dated around the same time of those tunes they knew each other was ripping each other off.
I wonder who wrote what first?
Harvey I think.August 16, 2001 at 4:15 pm #64554

SGParticipantThe album that PJ Harvey song is from is from 1992;the Shellac single that song is from 1993 I think but maybe 92;so it`s pretty close time frame of what came first.
Shellac rerecorded that song in 94 on their debut album.August 16, 2001 at 4:22 pm #64556
