Keeping together is an important part of drumming. I’ve tried drumming and I can only "keep it together" for about 120 seconds before I get tired of it all.

Murph is great but sometimes I do long for that strange look that would over take George B’s face when drumming, Bless his heart, the look was like something out of Dumb and Dumber, his drumming would be groovy and the look on his face would be of the "I have no idea what my name is or how old I am" variety or "Can I push your cart for you" What an angel.

murph did a great job …

he limbered up beforehand by doing stretches …

he broke a stick during the lung (?) …

and he got a big hug just after the show from a lady in the backstage area (from luisa, i think!!!!) :D

ha! ive already told you he is. there should be no question!

some of my favorite murph recordings:
    obviuosly the first three records
the dinosaur jr in sesson cd which has the 88 bbc sessions (incredible)
whatevers cool with me… the song and then the live version of thumb at the end.
    where you been
there is a live show at freesofree.net from amherst in 94 (j mj murph) which is really, really good.

murph beats the fuck out of his drums, but alot of drummers do that mindlessly with no heart or passion, but with murph its ALL HEART AND PASSION. i get goose bumps thinkin about it. im goin down early on the 8th (variety playhouse) one, so i can be right in the front; two, so i can get some pizza; and three, i was hopin to maybe meet and smoke a joint with my favorite drummer.

Murph is the best. George Hurley is close, followed by the great Jet Black.

And whats this stuff about Murph violating his parole? He didn’t kill anyone did he?

Not only is Murph a monster drummer, but he’s got a great shining dome.

Murph’s great. I love the way he plays and I wish he would’ve stayed around after Where You Been. J was fantastic on the drums for Without A Sound, and George Berz did fine on Hand It Over, but without Murph it wasn’t the same classic sound as far as drumming goes. He’ll always be one of my favorite drummmers.
