I’ll just name one.

Dinosaur Jr. – Where You Been

The best album ever made, but hardly recognized as such.

Grant Lee Buffalo – Fuzzy
Posies – Frosting on the beater
Screaming Trees – Dust (already mentioned by Sreaming Tree, but you can’t say often enough that this is a GREAT album!)
Mark Lanegan – Whisky for the Holy Ghost
Sugar – Beaster (much harder and more intense than ‘Copper Blue’, and better in my opinion)

-24 hour revenge therapy is an amazing album, good choice. Since someone already said Where You Been, which by the way is my response to every question which begins with "The best album…
or something along those lines, I mean Goddamn what a record. What was I saying, oh yeah I’m going to go with:
Aceyalone-A Book of Human Language
Quicksand-Slip
The Dillinger Escape Plan-Calculating Infinity
The Dirty Three-Ocean Songs
every Lungfish album except the last one(2000)

You’ll laugh, but In Utero was much better than Nevermind…but In Utero is considered by most Nirvana’s comercial suicide. Besides that there’s every Screaming Trees, Dinosaur Jr album. Here’s a new one:
At The Drive In- Relationship of Command…best album put out in 2000 (after More Light ) What’s up with ATDI anyway? They took a break in march and now their label, grand royal, went under. I hope they’ll keep things together.

It’s opposite here. Everyone thinks In Utero was better, but I think it’s crap [in comparison].
