RobertParticipantHe does? Shocking news! And another good mix title!
Excuse my ignorance, but what is, and how is, das damen, mean red spiders and the gathering?

SGParticipantDas Damen were a New York band from the mid `80s up to the early 90`s.One of them works now for Matador records. The record I have is ok but not that amazing, kinda early Soul Asylum meets Replacements sounding;they sometimes got compared to Dino but the only thing similar to J in the record I have is the use of the wah wah.
Mean Red Spiders are a canadian shoegazer band, kinda MBV and Lush-ish.
The Gathering are a dutch band, usually categorized as metal.Their singer Anneke has a cool voice,I`m getting kinda obsessed with them the last few months.March 23, 2004 at 1:51 pm #100860
Bucky RamoneParticipantLike SG said, the Gathering are Dutch, started as a kind of death metal band fronted by a Bjork-like singer, they turned a little goth later, and with each album they developed their own unique sound further, didn’t like them in their early days, but their latest album ‘Souvenirs’ is a very fine one (although it may be hard to find as it is released on their own label, after being kicked off major label earlier…

RobertParticipantCool, thanks for the info! Mean Red Spiders and The Gathering sounds like something I should check out!

SGParticipantThe Gathering`s Souvenirs is`nt hard to find here,I saw it just last week, still have`nt bought it yet.Anneke is`nt on their first two albums as DB said are more death metal. So far I have How To Measure A Planet(a double album and maybe their best)and Nighttime Birds. They have a new album out soon,a live acoustic album called Sleepy Buildings. The track listing looks great so I`m looking forward to that!
it`s on their old label Century Media not their own(called The End).

RobertParticipantSo far I’ve checked out Nighttime Birds and How To Measure A Planet. And liked them.
I might have gotten my hopes up a bit too high when death metall were mentionedbut her vocals were great and Mayhem are releasing a new album so I’ll get my fix anyways
