Hi there! Yesterday I finished building my own superfuzz pedal! I was wondering: Does one of you guys own a ‘real’ superfuzz pedal? I was wondering how the original pedals sound, because the one I built has a kinda crancky noisy fuzz sound (which is great, it rocks like hell !!). It has a weird sustain, since it fades out like a noise gate. But anyway, I only tried it at home, so I still need to try it in our practice room to see how loud it really is….

I build my own stuff too.

Here’s a great place to get started:

    DIY Stompboxes

They have a beginner’s forum which will take you through the whole process of one of the more simpler projects from beginning to end.

yah i bought a black cat version to the super fuzz its pretty awsome*all hand wired true bypass and all that fancy shit* i love it but kinda sucks on solos if its not by its self *but of course i use way too many damn pedals at once sucks so much tone*
i wish it would sustain a bit more with my other stuff oh well other wise its an awsome pedal does that great buzzsaw fuzz famous of the who
    and mudhoney

might have to invest in a cae switcher someday
when i become a rich famous rockstar ::)

Hey, nice to see this post again. I’m afraid that I’m not able to make a duplicate of my home-build superfuzz, because it simply takes too much time.

Here is a nice superfuzz site with lots of info and pictures. If you would like to make one, or
find someone to do it for you, this is the place to start.

Hey there. I have a Univox Super fuzz. It has two settings (changed by a tone switch). One that is a bit nasal and almost DS-1 sounding. The other is this thick, synthy fuzz. Think Weezer or Smashing Pumpkins, but with a bit more bass.. Single notes expand and an overtone can be heard. It is cool but pricey.
When you plug the SF into the Big Muff, it sounds like a dying T-rex.

I would love to AB the SF re-issue and the old one. The true bypass is a godsend. That’s why it’s tough to use those old pedals on stage. They don’t sound good in the mix and often cause volume issues, especially when mixed with new gear.
