SGParticipantThere used to be an old thread on lyrics that we like but I`m too lazy to look for it so I`ll start a new one:
Rat Circle by Lenola
Chorus:
"Tandem pogo stick
a fabricated pause
secret agent boy
overnight to Mars
robotic dick jock
he`s sitting for a spell
pussy on the know
jumping down the well"

duaneParticipantCool! I’ve always used the "Song that’s thrillin me" and the "Lyrics game" threads for that.
My Morning Jacket’s Rollin’ Back:
When I think about the story.
One thing seems pretty clear
The warm things you left behind they still want you here
But only in time you find
That all things come back around
And just like the frown, we’ll turn them upside downFebruary 27, 2006 at 1:06 pm #114976
SGParticipantHere`s one of the older threads of this topic:

duaneParticipantAllman Brothers:
I have not come to testify
About our bad, bad misfortune and I ain’t here a wondrin’ why
But I’ll live on and I’ll be strong
’cause it just ain’t my cross to bearBut in the end, baby long towards the end of your road
Don’t reach out for me ’cause I’m not gonna carry your load
But I’ll live on and I’ll be strong
’cause it just ain’t my cross to bearMarch 1, 2006 at 7:01 pm #114978
Bucky RamoneParticipant…is it a song or a short story, anyway, it’s great…..
Richard Thompson – 1952 Vincent Black Lightning
Oh says Red Molly to James "That’s a fine motorbike.
A girl could feel special on any such like"
Says James to Red Molly "My hat’s off to you
It’s a Vincent Black Lightning, 1952.
And I’ve seen you at the corners and cafes it seems
Red hair and black leather, my favourite colour scheme"
And he pulled her on behind and down to Boxhill they did rideOh says James to Red Molly "Here’s a ring for your right hand
But I’ll tell you in earnest I’m a dangerous man.
For I’ve fought with the law since I was seventeen,
I robbed many a man to get my Vincent machine.
Now I’m 21 years, I might make 22
And I don’t mind dying, but for the love of you.
And if fate should break my stride
Then I’ll give you my Vincent to ride""Come down, come down, Red Molly" called Sergeant McRae
"For they’ve taken young James Adie for armed robbery.
Shotgun blast hit his chest, left nothing inside.
Oh come down, Red Molly to his dying bedside"
When she came to the hospital, there wasn’t much left
He was running out of road, he was running out of breath
But he smiled to see her cry
He said "I’ll give you my Vincent to ride"Says James "In my opinion, there’s nothing in this world
Beats a 52 Vincent and a red headed girl.
Now Nortons and Indians and Greeves won’t do,
Ah, they don’t have a soul like a Vincent 52"
Oh he reached for her hand and he slipped her the keys
Said "I’ve got no further use for these.
I see angels on Ariels in leather and chrome,
Swooping down from heaven to carry me home"
And he gave her one last kiss and died
And he gave her his Vincent to ride.March 2, 2006 at 7:29 am #114979
duaneParticipantVery cool.
Here’s one from the Grand Master himself: Sir Paul the Walrus
Your day breaks, your mind aches
You find that all the words of kindness linger on
When she no longer needs you.
She wakes up, she makes up
She takes her time and doesn’t feel she has to hurry
She no longer needs you.
And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years!Man, I could post here all day….

Yeah, this is highschool all over again.
The popular kids are gonna gang up on the unpopular ones. Where’s the button for "stuff him in the trash can?"
Hehe….you wanna see some heavy shit? Try this one on for size:
Virgil Caine is my name and I drove on the Danville train
’til Stoneman’s cavalry came and tore up the tracks again
In the winter of ’65, we were hungry, just barely alive
I took the train to Richmond that fell
It was a time I remember, oh so wellBack with my wife in Tennessee, when one day she called to me
"Virgil, quick, come see, there goes Robert E. Lee!"
Now I don’t mind chopping wood
And I don’t care if the money’s no good
Just take what you need and leave the rest
But they should never have taken the very bestLike my father before me, I’m a working man
And like my brother before me, I took a rebel stand
Oh, he was just 18, proud and brave
But a yankee laid him in his grave
I swear by the blood below my feet
You can’t raise a Caine back up when he’s in defeatWhat a picture! Moving. Thought provoking. As good as it gets.
