Sloan -they grew up about 5 miles away from me.I used to like them, kinda tired of them now.Guitarist Jay Ferguson is a cool guy, used to listen to his radio show here on the college station,he had good taste, likes everything from Dinosaur to Sly And The Family Stone to Scott Walker to MBV to Miles Davis.

I’ve got two Sloan albums, ‘Underwhelmed’ is the opening track from their debut album ‘Smeared’, great song, the rest of the album is OK (although on a couple of songs they sound just a little too much like their big examples Sonic Youth and the Velvet Underground), their second album ‘Twice removed’ is a very fine album full of great ‘pop’ songs in the best Big Star/Beatles tradition, gonna dig that up out of my archives for some future mixes….. I lost sight of them after that album, but it seems that they are still around (according to allmusic.com)

Nice to know that there are actually people around who know Sloan……
