Pelt SemataryParticipantDon’t know if this has been posted elsewhere, but in case it hasn’t been – have you guys heard that Johnny Ramone
has what seems to be a pretty bad case of prostate cancer?
According to Marky Ramone "chances are slim…"
Even though Johnny always was my somewhat least favorite Ramone (because of the way he was w/ Joey, my fave
Ramone blahblahblah), it kinda sucks – in times like
these we need all the Ramones we still have, so keep on, Dude!
Otherwise there’ll be only drummers left (three of ’em), oh: and one bass player – the great C Jay…
Zo quote J: "Dee Dee died…it’s so sad…"

AGAPParticipantReport: Johnny Ramone losing cancer fight
Rolling Stone says prostate cancer has spreadLOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) — The guitarist with pioneering punk rock band the Ramones is fighting a losing battle with cancer in a Los Angeles hospital, Rolling Stone magazine reported on its Web site on Tuesday.
Johnny Ramone, 55, whose real name is John Cummings, was diagnosed with prostate cancer four years ago, and it has now spread throughout his body, Rollingstone.com quoted the band’s drummer, Marky Ramone, as saying.
"Johnny’s been a champ in confronting this, but at this point I think the chances are slim," Marky Ramone said in the report. "John never smoked cigarettes, he wasn’t a heavy drinker and he was always into his health. It just proves when cancer seeks a body to penetrate, it doesn’t matter how healthy you are or how unhealthy you are. It just seeps in and there’s nothing you can do."
The Ramones, famed for playing their high-energy, unpolished songs at breakneck speed, rose to fame in New York City in 1974, paving the way for such British punk rock icons as the Sex Pistols and the Clash.
The band made its mark with such tunes as "Blitzkrieg Bop," "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue" and "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker," but it never achieved the same commercial success as acts that followed in its path. The Ramones officially retired in 1996.
The band’s singer, Joey Ramone (ne Jeff Hyman), died in 2001 of lymphatic cancer, while bassist Dee Dee Ramone (Douglas Colvin) died from a drug overdose the following year

simmonsParticipantthe norwegian king had prostata cancer, but, sneaked in the hospital que, and got surgery after little waiting. In norway it’s common to get a surgery appointment within 3 months. this is all covered by the taxes. but if you want a surgery fast, like the king, you have to pay a lot and get it fixed on a private clinic.
the king survived, and is now fine
hopefully ramone will make it , too

hope he makes it thru this!
Johnny Ramone Cancer Reports Vary
Contradicting reports are coming out of the US today regarding the health of Johnny Ramone from The Ramones.
The 52 year old guitarist was reported by Rolling Stone to be dying of cancer but according MTV, Ramone is not in a life threatening situation right now.
Ramone was diagnosed with prostrate cancer four years ago and this week sent the media into a frenzy when he was admitted to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
MTV report that Ramone’s wife has asked their doctor to correct the press reports that have swept the world claiming the singer was on death’s door.
Joey Ramone died from lymphoma on April 15, 2001. He was 49. Dee Dee Ramone was found dead in his home in Los Angeles on June 5, 2002.

Pelt SemataryParticipantYeah, it’s a bit weird. For one thing, Marky Ramone at some point in the last few years claimed, that he stopped talking to Johnny because he didn’t like his attitude concerning Dee Dee’s and Joey’s death – and now he’s like his best buddy reporting about his situation? Sounded weird. Apparently Johnny’s wife (Joey’s Ex, by the way, and thus reason for a lot of inter-band-tension) and doctor should know best, so… keep ’em fingers crossed. This is what officialramones.com, Arty’s website, has to say: "As some of you already know, Johnny has been under medical care and treatment for some time. Fortunately, his health is stable – and right now getting better – so stop worrying and keep on rockin."
What made me feel weird was the eerie similarity to what they said in March 2001 about Joey, i.e. approx.: "He is getting better and better" – and then, a month later, he was death.
Let’s hope for the best, Long Live the Ramones…June 18, 2004 at 9:09 am #103101
AatosParticipantBucky Ramone: Oh, ok. It was too easy for me to imagine his lifestyle, so i forgot that cancer can attack anyone.

Bucky RamoneParticipantGot this through the Mike Watt mailing list, no source was given, so, for what it’s worth:
Ramone "Not Dying" Says Wife
Reports the punk legend Johnny Ramone is dying of prostrate cancer have been wildly exaggerated – according to his wife Lydia. On Wednesday, bandmate Marky Ramone told of how he fears his pal is near death after battling the deadly disease for the past four years. But yesterday, his wife Lydia slammed the comments stating that, far from being in intensive care, Johnny is preparing to leave the Los Angeles hospital where he is receiving treatment. Lydia says, "He’s not dying. He was okay for years, and he’s fine now. He’s in the hospital, but he’s not in Icu. And I think he may be leaving by tomorrow." Ramone’s doctor David Agus confirms, "(Johnny was admitted due to a) complication from the cancer. But he got through it, and he’s now on a new, experimental therapy. He’s fighting courageously, and I think he will be going home in the near term."

RichParticipantsoon its only gonna be The Ramone
sorry I had to say that
June 19, 2004 at 8:57 am #103104
Pelt SemataryParticipantYeah, "The Ramone"…
for a long time it seemed like it was going to be Johnny, who’d bear that title… but then again Tommy seems pretty normal, and Marky, Richie and CJay…. Whatever. Why didn’t I get that from the Watt-list? I’m on it, too! It’s kinda similar to the latest Yahoo!-News on that topic, however – only his wife’s name is Linda, not Lydia. Anyhoo, it’s all very blurry.
So let’s wait & see, with "hope" in the middle… -
