anyone else who’s into jazz, drop yer favorites here. i’m most into the avant garde/hard bop type stuff, i.e mingus, monk, ornette coleman, pharoah sanders, eric dolphy, roland kirk……..blah, blah………anyhoo, just curious to see what other jazz fans dig……

I like alot of hard bop stuff now more then free jazz but still like some free jazz sometimes though;all the stuff on Prestige,Riverside,Bluenote, etc. is mostly what I`ve been into more recently.

Clifford Jordan is on tenor sax,John Handy on alto sax is the guy who comes in later and goes crazy! Jane Getz on piano,Mingus on bass and Dannie Richmond;definitely one of the best jazz albums ever in my opinion.

never really got into jaco all that much (but never really listened to that much either). i have one album of him and al dimeola(sp?), but i haven’t listened to it in years….maybe i’ll dust it off and give it a fresh listen.

    p.s if you’re a bassist…….mingus is the KING!

I`m with WL,I never got into Jaco that much either,or Weather Report;I have Jaco`s first solo album though, some good stuff on it like the Charlie Parker tune(Donna Lee) and Herbie Hancock`s playing.Jaco also played on alot of Joni Mitchell`s 70`s albums and Pat Metheny`s first album if you did`nt know that.
