K7 Rides AgainParticipantIs anyone here going to see J next Sunday in Cleveland? If so, let me know…we’ll have to hook up and do a little pre-show party or, at least, party at the show!
Did anyone see J w/ Sonic Youth? Just wondering, how was it?

bobocapParticipantI saw J on the 16th in Northampton. Incredible. He opened with Thumb and played everything that you would have expected him to for around 50 minutes. Flying Cloud was my favorite. As usual, he didn’t say too much. A couple of thank you’s and that was about it. The last song was Repulsion.
This was my first show and if you have never seen him before, I can tell you that his playing is 1,000 times better live that you would expect. J’s got me wanting to see him with the Fog! He is awesome. Really, he is.
Sonic Youth was Sonic Youth. Exactly what you always get. A good show and a lot of fun. Thurston makes me laugh the way he tunes his guitar for 2 minutes at the beginning of each song….like it makes a difference. I mean that in the kindest way.

JavroModeratorI just read the last post, and upon seeing the "Northampton" part, was shocked that I missed the gig.
Why the fuck would J want to play Northampton? Then it struck me that it wasn’t the UK Northampton (a terrible, terrible little place). No offence to any Freakscener’s who live in Northampton, UK. But move.

bobocapParticipantRight! Northampton Massachusetts, right next to J’s home town!

AGAPParticipantHey bobocap,
Thanks for the info, sounds like it was quite the show!!! Fingers crossed we all get to see J & The Fog in a sooner rather than later kinda way.

Long Distance DrunkParticipantI’m going to the show in Cleveland, pretty stoked too. Is it all acoustic? Why are there so few shows? Is there anyone that’s been to a show at the Grog Shop before? I’m coming up from Pittsburgh, and I know they have some cool bands there, but I’ve never seen a show there. Never seen J solo, but I saw Dinosaur Jr open for Neil Young in 93 or 94. Should be a good time!

K7 Rides AgainParticipantAll right kiddies, here’s the deal…
Show starts at nine…doors open??? $12 at the door…as long as you show up and pay, you get in.
Supposed to be a solo accoustic set for J w/ two bands opening. Talked to some friends, the area around the Grog shop is kind of campus like. Lots of shops, bars, resturaunts, etc. think I’m going up early and doing the Cleveland scene. Odd, it’s only 2 hours away and I’ve never been there! Anyways, I’ll try to get a pic up on the site so you all know who you’re looking for! If not, I’ll give you a description of what I’m wearing. Hope to see whoever there!

Long Distance DrunkParticipantI’ve been all around the Grog in Cleveland, but never in. Here’s the deal (my cousins live really close): its really close to Case Western Reserve University, parking is decent, look behind the grocery store, if you want something to eat, the Mongolian BBQ about a block away KICKS ASS!!!! really good stuff. As in anywhere in Cleveland, do not stray too far from the main drag, or you may end up in a sketchy neighborhood (not that I live in the best area in the world). I’ll leave a report Monday or Tuesday…
