RobertParticipanthere you go rambleon:
Things may have been quiet publicly as of late, but there is a lot going on.J Mascis has been busy… here are the highlights:
1. J Mascis + The Fog will be on this years All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival http://www.atpfestival.com. Thanks to Modest Mouse who are this years Curators
2. J Mascis + The Fog will be touring the East Coast this November. Official dates have been posted.
3. J has been working on the Dinosaur Jr. Reissues… we’re close. Expect a release date to be announced very soon.
4. If you have order CD’s from the store and have not gotten them it’s because we’re sold out – BUT we expect the new shipment of CD’s very soon. Hang tight, we’re very sorry about delays in delivery.

RobertParticipant"rambleon" wrote:what are you doing up so late ? :aliensmile:I’m not quite sure actually. But there are beers and My Bloody Valentine on the stereo, somewhere in the equation. And I’m trying to get some stuff done on my computer. And beer + music is allways helpfull in such situations.
Also, couldn’t I be asking you the same question?October 1, 2004 at 5:57 pm #105221
rambleonParticipanti guess so … there’s no beer or mbv keeping me awake here
, but i had a real shock today when i opened up our credit card bill + saw that over £1000 had been fraudulently charged to our account
… anyhow … i totally freaked out + went into panic mode or something (v.unlike me, not sure what really happened there) + then after we phoned the credit card co + xxld the card etc – i went for a swim to chill myself out, but afterwards i was exhausted, so i crashed + i was out like a light for an hour or so + when i woke up i was fully refreshed … so that’s my story anyhow

sheit
that’s not good at all! Will the company cover your losses or have they left you hanging? Hope this is sorted out without you loosing too much time+money etc!October 1, 2004 at 6:15 pm #105224
rambleonParticipantthey will send us some document (which we will sign) stating that we didn’t make those transactions … at the same time they are going to investigate … they say it’ll take over a month … but they will cover all losses …
the 1st transaction was petrol (+ we don’t have a car!)
the 2nd one was tesco (food shop) in a place i’ve never heard of before
+ the 3rd one was the biggie … some furniture for over £900 … which i suppose they would have to have delivered somewhere, so maybe the police can trace them that way ?October 1, 2004 at 6:21 pm #105225
RobertParticipantdo you know how they’ve managed to use your card? has it been stolen or have you lost it. or is it pure Voodoo?
good thing that they’re going to cover it, though a month is a long time to wait for a thousand £.
hmmm… buying £900 worth of furniture with someone elses creditcard sounds like risky business to me. hopefully the bobbies will work something out based on that information. because as you said, they must either pick it up somewhere, or get it delivered some place.
this is definetely a case for Frost, Barnaby or Inspector Morse.October 1, 2004 at 7:44 pm #105226

Thing like that happened to my sister last year, she suddenly got billed for some high-end PC, bought somewhere in Italy, as it was clear that she hadn’t been in Italy at the time of purchase she got her money back almost instantly. She had been in Italy about a year earlier, and only had used her credit card twice over there, once for the hotel bill, and once in a restaurant, and because of that the creditcard-company could link the fraud to some other cases all related to transactions in that restaurant, and some people got arrested, and my sister got a nice thank-you letter and a small present from the credit-card company as well….

rambleonParticipantQuote:do you know how they’ve managed to use your card? has it been stolen or have you lost it. or is it pure Voodoo?no, we didn’t lose our cards, that’s the 1st thing i checked !! …
saying that though – over here credit card "cloning" has been on the increase, which is why shops are currently introducing what is called a "chip + pin" system … so instead of a signature, the user will punch in their (secret) pin no when they make purchases … they claim the same system is used in france + it has cut down on credit card fraud by 70 – 80 percent
in the meantime – while the credit card co investigates, we don’t have to pay that portion of the bill … but they said it could take a while to check out … presumably b/c it is happening to so many unsuspecting people !!
…
naughty little fraudsters !!! :slap:

I thought that were used everywhere, except america+africa.
Good to hear you don’t have to pay that portion of the bill!
And hopefully they’ll get those bastards good real soon. -
