Hey, there is a pretty good thread about fav solos this over here http://www.freakscene.net/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=3&t=000016

Welcome to the boards

Are you having problems getting them or playing them?

All the links that go to MySpace.com no longer work as they are no longer offering that service. Try the FTP sites (they have about everything you could want)

I’ve just got to say the best guitar solo by J, to me, is the second solo in GET ME. I get chill bumps each and every time.

I said it before but `the lung` is my fav solo overall, but trying to pick a best solo from J is like trying to pick a Coltrane sax solo or a Hendrix solo. One time I heard `the lung` solo in my dreams! The live recordings of `the lung`I heard are good but the ylaom album version rules. The most beautiful guitar solo ever.A close runner up I think is`whipping post` by the Allman Brothers, the live version from the Filmore, there`s this part towards the end when they slow things down and Duane Allman or Dickey Betts plays this solo that is amazing.I don`t know how many of will diss me for liking the Allmans but I heard this in my pre indie rock days and amazing music sticks to you know matter what music you`re in to.

hey great call on the Allman Brothers. NO diss from me…

I enjoy there music totally. Whipping Post is a great song. I especially like, NO One Left To Run With. To all in this thread, it is ok to deviate from the post topic–J solos–open expression is fine and encouraged.

Peace.

Hey guys,

My favourite solo would be ‘green mind’ and ‘whatever’s cool with me’. The first one, because J’s distortion is almost over the edge and the second, well I don’t no, it really rocks I guess. BTW, I like ‘the lung solo’ also: very cool sound! J’s sound on older albums is a little rougher then the new ones, but I like ’em just the same…

I really love the second part of the first solo on Start Choppin,if you know what part I mean. it has got a very cool melodic attitude. I also love first solo on Same Day and the last part of the solo on Back before you go. Of course there are many other solos that has got very much feelings in them, but right now these three solos are the ones that my mind keeps playing when I think of j`s solos.

The first time I heard the solo of the live version of Kracked I thought: Oh my God! The song starts and it goes to a climax and then he start’s playing with that amazing wah-vibrato. Unbelievable.
Also the solo’s in Get Me are very good, mainly because I can play them, although not exactly like J. The same with I don’t think so.
To be honest: I like most of the solo’s, each solo has got a tribute to the song, I don’t know any solo which is there just to fill up some time.

All the songs are great as an entity, not only because of some single solos

As far as melodic stuff goes, I would have to say the beggining of Little Furry Things is the best, I could listen to that all day. As far as solos go, Alone.

I always thought the solo to Raisans was incredible, especially live. I love it when J plays live solos, stretching songs to 10 minutes plus in length. What Else is New, Get Me, Drawerings, Alone, Ammaring, and Sameday sre some of my other personal favorites. I’ll never forget when I went to a concert in Columbus, Ohio, on the Hand It Over tour. J played Aone, and used the memory man and supertremelo (Im sure other pedals were involved as well), to make the solo bounce back and fourth between all of the different amps. It really sounded great with the tremelo. I’ve heard someone else refer to this as "playing ping pong" with the guitar. What ever the hell it was, it was amazing. –
