doomtownParticipantAll this talk about the Late Late Show, Letterman, and SNL reminds me of the time Dinosaur played the Jenny Jones Show. It was the coolest thing! Anybody else see that?

stannerParticipantyep! i caught the very last segment w/ Dinosaur on there.
it was so incongrous-all these daytime tv weirdos in the audience mostlee lookin like they are seein/hearing something from another world.
it certainlee was twisted.
did anyone see the whole show-what was the theme-who else was on? i cant believe it was a complete show about J Mascis/Dinosaur Jr.
funny, never heard anyone talk about this before.

andyfestParticipantI saw it. I was flipping through the channels in college and saw them jamming. I was shocked! Then I saw it was the Jenny Jones show and couldn’t believe what I was witnessing. Anyone remember what the topic on the show was that day? DNA tests or spouses cheating or something?

foghatParticipantYeah, I almost forgot. I think they played "never bought it". Did anyone record that? I also remember the Lemonhead playing on Jenny Jones with Murph drumming. Jennny must have been going through her post punk phase then……I was going through some of my old VHS tapes when I found a recording of the "John Stewart Show" with Dinosaur Jr. They played "Grab It" and part of "Sludgefeast". Remember that? John introduced them as one of his "favorite" bands. What a time capsule!

AGAPParticipantI’d love to see that!
I did catch J on the Arsenio Hall show, he was playing with a guy whose name I can’t remember…didn’t tape it though

doomtownParticipantArsenio too? I never knew that.
I knew about the Jon Stewart Show. Never seen it though.

bobParticipantActually the jon stewart show was the first time I ever saw or heard of Dinosaur Jr. I tuned in half way through the song and had no idea who it was. I noticed the guy (J) has really long hair so I was thinking hmmm it’s not collective soul because I don’t recognize the song and there’s only three guys.
I would love it if someone had that on tape and encoded it.
next time I heard them was when I borrowed the melrose place soundtrack from a friend
then another friend was learning the guitar tab for feel the pain
then I found the Without a sound casette tape in a superstore cutout bin.
the dino played with on Arsenio Hall show was Del The Funkee Homosapien (later of Gorillaz and Heiroglyphics). Dino/Del have a song on the Judgment Night soundtrack.
I never saw that or the Jenny Jones apperance either.

rdParticipantRambleon, try getting in touch with Anthony over at http://www.freesofree.net”>http://www.freesofree.net. He probably could convert it to a video file and it would be great to have up at FreeSoFree.net.

He said his sister may have a copy but after checking later on it is lost somewhere.
Would love to see that + the Jenny Jones, John Stewart & Out There Letterman Performance.
Also, does anyone here know anyone that works @ NBC or more specifically with SNL? If so drop me a line. I will venture through some of my other contacts… I would like to see some more of the performances where J was the Band Leader a few years back (Christopher Walken hostend and Christina Augualara performed).I am going to quote the great rambleon here
"calling all you pack rats … dig out those old tapes b/c we need them"

J sat in with the house band, and he waved good bye at the end of the show.April 5, 2005 at 10:36 am #108348
