DINOSAUR SKI BUM
Here we were assuming J (also answers to God) Mascis was as reclusive a slacker as his music suggests, only to find out that he is-yes-a devoted and longtime skier (a letterman slalom racer, no less, for the 1987 U. of Mass. at Amherst ski team)! See for yourself in the new Dinosaur Jr video, ”Out There,” in which the band’s front man sings atop Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler, British Columbia, like some Von Trapp family outcast. Shot by noted ski-movie director Greg Stump, the video was originally planned to include footage of hotdog skier Glen Plake, but that was deemed unnecessary once J donned boards and hit the slopes. Who knew?
