OK, so I’m asking for some help on my latest mix…

I’ve got this friend, Paul, who spends most of his time listening to Van Halen, Bon Jovi, et al. However, the last time he was over at my place, I had ‘Where You Been’ playing and he really seemed to like it (he is a guitarist.) So, I’m already working on a Dinosaur Jr mix for him…

Now I’m thinking that I could probably get him hooked on Husker Du, so I’m going to make him a mix for that as well…

Here’s a few candidates for the mix. As you folks in the know can probably tell, I tend to lean more towards Mould’s stuff than Hart’s, but I realize that he has some very good stuff as well. So, there is plenty of room left on the disk, what do you suggest that I add? Saves me the trouble of having to sort through so many great songs, if I get some of you to take on the burden as well.. Don’t Want To Know If You Are Lonely
Eiffel Tower High
Makes No Sense At All
Celebrated Summer
59 Times the Pain
These Important Years
Standing In the Rain
Ice Cold Ice
Could You Be the One
Too Much Spice
She Floated Away
Bed of Nails

Heheh, looking back on it, seems like most of my stuff comes from ‘Warehouse’. Maybe you folks could help me be a little less biased toward Mould as well.

Hey, some great suggestions there Allison.

Yeah, Paul even has the Van Halen logo tatooed on his arm. But, like I said, he did like Dino, so there’s hope for the boy.

Listening to ‘Flip Your Wig’ right now. Looks like we both forgot to list ‘Games’. I’ll have to remedy that immediately.

Whatever
Somewhere (the song that pulled me in for good)
Everything Falls Apart

I think those songs would let the guy know that the band had a command over what they wanted to express and how well they did it.

OK, here’s my final draft… It’s 9 seconds short of the 80 minute limit. 23 tracks, and still not room for everything I wanted to put on it.

Anything you folks think I should replace on there?

Hey FLP,

den Buck suggests (for starters ):

Husker Du: New Day Rising, Flip your wig, Warehouse songs & stories
Bob Mould: Workbook
Sugar: Copper Blue
Grant Hart: Intolerance
Greg Norton: a meal at ‘the Staghead’ in Red Wing, Minnesota :

"If your destination is Red Wing, head for the Staghead. Former rocker Greg Norton (he was the bassist for Husker Du) runs the kitchen, and he specializes in refreshing takes on tried-and-true American standards. The wine list is the envy of restaurants twice its size, and the dark, soothing, turn-of-the-century decor stands head-and-shoulders above its neighbors. Reasonable prices, too."
