RosangelaParticipantWow, I’m very happy cause today I’ve found this site. I’m crazy about J.’s sounds. I live in Brazil and it’s not easy to find Dinosaur Jr.’s fans here. I’m in love with his new work, "More Light" and I hope someday he can come here to play for us. I’ve discovered J. some years ago, when I read a fanzine talking bout new bands. I read a piece of one of his lyrics and I liked it so much…After this, I listened to his cover of "Show Me The Way". I don’t like P. Frampton, and I liked what J. did with this song. Then, I looked for his records and I never got disappointed. And he made me discover other great musicians, like Mike Watt. Thanks, J.! I hope you can read my message: you have a big fan here, in the distant Brazil, who loves your voice, your songs, your guitar style, sweet or noisy.
Bye! August 16, 2001 at 4:35 pm #61091

RosangelaParticipantThanks for the welcome! Yes, I’m a girl (not a young one, two decades of rock’n’roll) and I’m friendly too, specially if I’m drunken… And Brazil is a country full of contrasts, but we’re privileged by Mother Nature – beaches, islands, waterfalls, forests, it’s beautiful! I read some of the profiles and messages and it’s nice to find people who loves and are so interested about J.’s music. Wow, some of the boardmembers met J.! I’m noticing that there are lots of things to be discovered here. He almost came here once, for a Summer Festival, but it didn’t happen. So, I have to live my life listening to his music only in CD’s, but this is great too. And yes, I’m crazy about Iggy Pop too. I’ll contact Another Girl Another Planet soon! Once he wrote me a letter, and I wouldn’t sell it for 10 millions dollars! Well, have a nice weekend you all. I’ve borrowed one of Neil Young’s records, I’m gonna listen it this weekend. I love Neil too, like J. Mascis does…Sorry if sometimes my English isn’t ok. See you soon…

As for your english, had you not said you were from Brazil, I wouldn’t have known. Your grammer seems really good, as do most non-native speakers since they’re not subjected to hearing our slang.

AGAPParticipantHey,
Welcome aboard, and another female as well…we are on a roll getting more cool female members…YES!!!! Always cool to hear the feminine view of things, not always that different than some of the very cool guys here but hey cool all the same.
Iggy wrote you a letter…very cool. I got his autograph once…he was pretty short I worked at this hotel ages ago that he stayed at, took up a bottle of Mateus for him and his…friend He was very charming and gracious, his friend well I wish she had put some clothes on If your a Stooges fan, it must have killed you to miss out on the Ron Asheton shows…killed me. I actually won tickets to the show in San Fran but only found out the day after the show
Looking forward to your postings on the board

dimpfelmoserParticipantHi there RR
well, since you´re from Brazil, could you tell me if you can get records from Roberto Menescal in your lovely part of the world. As my understanding of it he recorded and released most of his work in Brazil and for years now I´m desperatly trying to find some stuff of his, alas to no avail so far. But that might be cause he is rather unknown over here, but I guess he must be bit of a celebrity in Brazil. Shed some light there please.

RosangelaParticipantHello!
Allison, very nice story about Iggy. He came to Brazil many years ago ("Instinct" Tour) and I travelled to São Paulo just to see his show. It’ll be always in my mind, and I’m waiting for another opportunity to see him singing alive. Have you listened to his new record? I’m waiting, in despair, of course. It send me to to what Dimpfelmoser asked me: my darling, you have a wrong idea about Brazil; only in São Paulo we can find interesting records. Here in my town, I must have an enormous patience to get tuned. Our biggest artists, like Roberto Menescal, are despised. Artists that produce garbage are the ones that sell records! My favourite Brazilian artist, Walter Franco, is a complete unknown. Did you try to buy Roberto Menescal’s records in Internet? If I discover something about him, I’ll let you know, ok?
Well, maybe this week I can go and see Dino’s videos. I have to share the computer with a coleague here in my work, and she wants the computer only for her! Now she’s out, thank God!
Can anybody explain to me why, bellow my name, does appear the name "Gargoyle"? I love this song!
ELJ, I couldn’t scan the letter that Iggy wrote me: it’s a very private letter and I don’t have a scanner here in my work! Have a nice night, you all!August 21, 2001 at 6:15 pm #61100
SGParticipantJ`s song titles appear under our names depending on the amount of posts that we do,so now it says Kracked.
Artists that produce garbage are the ones that sell records?sounds like Canada!(that`s where I live).August 21, 2001 at 7:13 pm #61101
AGAPParticipantHey RR,
I have heard most of the new Iggy, haven’t had the impulse to pick it up yet though. He has a new site out there with some sounds from the disc…I really don’t like the guitar player on this one though. Probably will get it soon though. A friend of mine got a letter from Iggy as well, after the American Caesar release Iggy promised to reply to everybody who sent him a letter with the address given in the liner notes..I think. About a year and a half after my friend sent it he got a reply….very cool Another site to check out for Iggy is iggypop.org..I think thats the address…they have a video clip of him doing a song off the new release live in France…
Sounds like you need to hypnotize your partner at work so you get the majority of the computer time

RosangelaParticipantMe again!
I was trying to watch Dino’s videos, but it’s taking toooooooo long… Maybe next time…
Salamiguy, thanks for the informations, now I don’t know if I like more "Gargoyle" or "Kracked". What is coming next?!?!?! Well, Canada and Brazil have something in common, no? We really have some excellent musicians, but, if you want to sell records and appear in TV, the right way is writing malicious lyrics and put two or three semi-naked girls to dance! Sad to say that our best rockstars died very young.
Allison, I read that the new Iggy Pop is very noisy, like he was in Stooges. I couldn’ access the site that you indicated to me yet to hear what he’s doing now, but I love noise, so, probably, I will like it! This is the main reason that makes me like J. Mascis: I love noise and I love calmness, and he is the person that better connects both things.
And yes, if I remember right, I wrote to Iggy when I got "American Caesar".
Well, your idea (hypnotize my coleague) is very good, less drastic than the idea that I have: Murder! (just kidding!). But, seriously, sometimes she drives me crazy, searching for gossips and recipes in Internet, all day long!
Waiting for your news,
RosangelaAugust 23, 2001 at 6:48 pm #61103
SGParticipantCanada does have some good bands,it`s just they`re too far and few between for many people to notice;it`s problably the same all over the world, good bands don`t get recognized.
The semi naked girls thing sounds like 80`s American heavy metal videos!
In Canada you just call your band the Barenaked Ladies and you sell records!(they`re all guys actually).
Allison will help you out on accessing the Iggy site if she knows what the problem is.She is very helpful and nice to the folks on this site.August 23, 2001 at 7:42 pm #61104
AGAPParticipantHey RR,
The new Iggy is pretty noisy, not sure I would say it sounds like the Stooges though but hey still Iggy. This is a link to the video of Mask off the new one done live on some tv show in Paris
http://www.destroy-in-paris.com/multimedia/maskdslm.raThis is a link to iggypop.org the multimedia page has lots of great interviews, check out the video page as well…very cool.
http://www.iggypop.org/Hope that works, working fine for me here in Canada…good luck.
Allison
ps Salamiguy thanks for the compliment, think you deserve more than a few yourself. You have been very charming and helpful to all since you came on board…THANKS
