stillchoppinParticipantHello everyone. I’ve been posting on this board for about a month now and decided I’d give a more formal intro rather than the "I’m sorta new to this" stuff I’ve been posting all over the BB! First off, I want to say what a great job Jeremiah has done with this site, it is quite a collection of knowledge (and people in general!). I think it’s cool that we can all relate to one another through J’s music. This whole van wreck thing has really bummed me out, and I need to realize how lucky we are walking around day to day going unscathed! I also need to realize that my guitar hero will be back before long and everything will be okay.
I first got into Dino when I was about 15. I’m 26 now and still love J just as much. There is nothing like hearing that white noise guitar of his, in my opinion! What a blast to the face! I got to see J here in Seattle when the Fog rolled through in early May. I hadn’t been following the tour, or reading anything about it, so i didn’t even know Watt was playing with J. When I saw the ‘little furry thing’ walk out on stage, first with Love as Laughter I got cold chills! I love Watt and think the energy he brings to life and the stage is genuine and one of a kind. By the time J and the Fog came on I felt like I was in dreamland because there I was standing in the front row with my girlfriend, letting the band blow me away! J’s shy nature is just too much, considering the virtuoso that he is. I don’t remember all of the set list, but Sameday and Amma were definitely my fave’s of the night. I think the new stuff is a lot better than, say, Hand it Over. A lot brighter, reminds me of when I first got into J, which I guess has sort of sparked a renewed interest for me.
Anyway, a little about me. Guitar is my passion and I try and play a little almost every day. I confess to being a bit of a gear slut and now that I’m out of college with a decent job it’s nice to be able to afford $ome of the gear I’ve always dreamed of having. I love Fender, PRS, MArshall, Top Hat just to name a few.
Some of my favorite bands are Sonic Youth, Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, J/Dinosaur, and of course Smashing Pumpkins, the most misunderstood rock band in the world! I like to collect cool concert prints by Kozik, Jermaine, Coop, etc.
I live in a little town called Kingston, which is a ferry boat ride away from Seattle and I totally love it. It is a breath of fresh air compared to Seattle and I like walking outside our place and staring up at the 80-year-old Doug Firs that are in our yard/forest! I recently got engaged to my girlfriend of two years, Rachel, so that is exciting for us.
I love to talk about concerts/albums/bands all the time, so feel free to mail me about anything. If any of you are ever in Seattle get in touch with me and we’ll have a beer or something! I look forward to talking to you all on the boards!"I need God beside me, piled deep in sludge"

AGAPParticipantHey Stillwater,
Thanks for the intro, have seen you around the site….
The white noise bit regarding J is a great description, may have to borrow that sometime. Also gotta love the "little furry thing" spin on Watt’s mountain man deal he had going on toward the end of the tour. No doubt about it he is a one of a kind genuine punk rock icon…very cool guy!!! Here’s hoping he’s one of a kind regarding water bottles….hehe couldn’t help myself. As Johnbonhamisgod said…the price of touring with greatness.
Great review of the show, took me back to when they walked out in Minneapolis
Douglas Firs…whooa a Twin Peaks moment for me, good luck with all your plans. Definitely should be cool cause when you find a girl you find a friend….sounds like she’s even a J fan…even better
