i know j checked out sebadoh shows in the 90s and i saw him at the lou show in northampton a couple weeks ago. i actually had a good talk with him and lou at the bar. so i assume he digs lou/sebadoh stuff.. or at least likes to come and show his support. I’ve never heard him comment though.

I remember reading that J gave a copy of Green Mind to Lou and Lou gave him Sebadoh III back in `91.

There was an interview with Mike Johnson and J where the reviewer made them listen to some songs. One was a Sebadoh song. I can’t find the article for the life of me (does Jamie’s Turnip Farm still exist???) but Mike said "Sebadoh,.. another one of those hopeless joke bands" and J said "Lou’s a Talented guy, he can do better than this".

I believe J prefers Sebadoh Mark I w/ Eric. Or so I’ve heard.

yeah the eric songs on III and bubble and scrape are some of the best sebadoh songs ever that was an really great era kinda like the j/lou/murph days of dinosaur. jake and lou wrote some really great stuff post eric though and all the later albums are amazing as well. just as every dinosaur album post lou was amazing right up to hand it over and on into the fog.

it’s more Eric’s drumming on Lou’s songs that does it for me. all the fills, cymbol rides & off-kilter beats were very unorthodox, 60s (Keith Moon, Ginger Baker, Mitch Mitchell, etc..) type stuff. Listen to "Forced Love", "Sacred Attention" or "Cliche" and you’ll hear it. To go from that to Bob Fay was just …. eh.

yeah definetely, eric was such a kickass drummer. homemade had some sick fills, lou talks about how eric didnt like that song and he’d drag the fills into the verse to throw him off when theyd play it live.
