Off the top of my head…
Tim Meadows (SNL) Ladies Man
Matt Dillon – (he even directed Get Me and J acted along side of him in Grace Of My Heart)
Alison Anders (of course)
Uma Th.. you know
John Cousak (he mentioned them in an mag I have somewhere)

these are people famous for something other than music. the list of musicians would be huge!

I’ll think of some more later.

i remember hearing that Tim Meadows from Saturday Night Live was into DinoJr. Real famous, huh? and Matt Dillan (I saw him standing outside a bar in NYC last year. I didn’t bother him cuz I was real drunk – no Dinojr t-shirt or nothing)

Krist Novoselic often wore Dinosaur Jr. shirts – do we still consider him famous? And Kurt Cobain once said that he’d always thought that he would sing like J, but when he really started singing it turned out he sounded nothing like him.

By the way, is Uma really into Dinosaur Jr.?

I read some little blurb in an indie mag a while back where someone asked Uma if she followed them and she said yes. The article was about dinosaur but this was in the sidebar.

J was actually asked to play drums for Nirvana by Kurt Cobain I have read about that from Thurston Moore and J interviews.

I’m going to check on the Tim Meadows things for sure. I happen to know his sister! We were occasional co-workers and good friends for two years before she told me her brother was Tim Meadows! How did she break it to me? By telling me casually (when I was raving about Adam Sandler) "That fool came to my brothers wedding in a flannel shirt and a baseball cap!" I was like, huh?! Sure enough, she showed me pix a few days later of Sandler, Meadows, Spade and a few others (including a cool one of Chris Farley holding her son up in the air!) Anyway, I’ll ask her to ask him!

i wonder if Tim Meadows would get bugged out by that question. here he is, a guy who has been on SNL for ages, worked with tons of great actors, comedians, celebs, etc, worked with the late Chris Farley (sp?) and Phil Hartman, and his sister comes at him with "tim, some internet group wants to know if you like Dinosaur JR". pretty funny.

I have an issue of Spin magazine (1993 it think) where the cast of SNL got do every article. Tim Meadows said since he was going to be able to interview anyone he wanted his first choice was J and that he was a big fan. That was just too cool.

I’ll have this and TONS more articles and interviews up on the site soon.

Just to follow up Tim’s sister has not e-mailed me back in answer to my question. Either she never received my e-mail, she decided not to bug him, or she’s trying to tell me that she never liked me anyway . In light of Jeremiah’s input, I guess there’s no need to pursue it further, although it would be cool if she would forward a link to this site to him…I’m SURE he has time to browse the web (yeah, right.) I will definitely be taking in the movie, but probably not until it hits video stores. I just don’t think The Ladies Man is a very funny sketch. She told me two years ago he was going to make a movie from it, but she also said he was supposed to get his own sitcom, which has as of yet not materialized!

He is a part of the cast for the Michael Richards Show (Kramer).

I love the ladies man sketches but I don’t know how the movie will do…

I can remember an article in which Juliana Hatfield cited J Mascis as her "favorite guitar player". Also, a friend of mine who is into the Cure tells me that Robert Smith once expressed an interest in touring with Dinosaur Jr.

I don’t know why, but for some reason the image of Michael Johnson working out to J’s music cracks me up! I never thought of it as having that much of an aerobic beat. Can anyone back this up?

If I worked out, I know I’d listen to J while doing so. That’s a BIG if, though. Excercise kinda sucks.
