Spaceboy
J Mascis + The Fog More LightJust when it looked as though Dinosaur Jr’s mainman was turning pro (providing hefty soundtrack scores for Gas Food Lodging and Grace Of My Heart) while becoming comfortable as the guitarists’ guitarists’ pickgod (his acoustic-laced Martin And Me still holds some stellar moments), Mascis somehow frizzled into the ether without forewarning, delivering the Dinoâs last album on a down note. He resurfaced this past July, grinding out Stooges covers at the Knitting Factory with Mike Watt. You can still hear some of Iggy’s intensity during the kickoff "Same Day," in this new collection of fxxxed-up and freaked-out Mascis’ riffage. Although More Light favors the dirgey rock of J’s broken-down-to-basics style (rather than his sky-high wall of fuzztones), itâs still a treat to hear the novice golfer knock down a few classic chords. öml kilgore (Ultimatum)

Sometimes I’m angry that I feel so angry
Sometimes my feelings get in the way
