can anyone out there clear up why holland’s sporting types always wear orange (+ black + white) uniforms when the dutch flag’s colours are red, white + blue ?

what’s the history behind that ?

Hey rambleon, cool question, still researching it….

Orange is a kind of fourth national colour over here (you should see Amsterdam on Queen’s Day…..  ) because we have been ruled by the House of Orange for a couple of ages, but I am still trying to find out why all of our sports teams dress in orange

…still searching, finding very little, but I noticed (while watching some Olympic stuff) that there’s not always a direct relation between the colours of the flag & the colours in which the athletes compete (Germany: white/black, flag: black/red/yellow, New Zealand: black, Australia: yellow/some kind of grey, flags: blue with some red & white)

Red, white and blue are colours many countries use (france, luxembourg etc) It must have to do with dB sugestion about the Orange kingdom.

….that ‘yellow/some kind of grey’ was based on what I saw from the Olympic hockey final that I watched in a pub while drinking some excellent ‘Leffe Dubbels’ , ‘we’ lost :? from Australia who were dressed in some kind of yellow/greyish green/greenish grey outfit….
