Bucky RamoneParticipantWell, seems like everyone is either busy changing their names or starting threads about bands from wherever they live…
First option: changing my name to ‘Buck or Starbuck?’ , well no….
Second option, making a list of Dutch bands that don’t suck, well, let’s try:
Bettie Serveert
the Gathering
Bauer
John Wayne shot me
Chitlin’ Fooks (although they are half Belgian…)
Nasmak (well, they were great, disbanded a long time ago…)
JohanMost of the Dutch bands nowadays try to sound like some bad Pearl Jam/Live rip-off by the way, they suck!
Some Belgian bands that don’t suck:
dEUS
Zita Swoon
Daan
Vive la fete
Dead Man Ray
Chitlin’ Fooks (although they are half Dutch…)
Gorki
Evil Superstars
Mauro
Metal Molly
Kiss my Jazz
Venus
Novastar
Arid
Hooverphonic
TC Matic
Arno
Arbeid Adelt!
Soulwax
Thou
Ozark Henry
Die Anarchistische Abend-Unterhaltung
Das Pop
Luc van Acker…and the Belgians also have much better beer than the Dutch

SGParticipantThe Ex are cool, kinda remind me of Fugazi.

Bucky RamoneParticipantI think the Ex are making great albums, live they can be very good, or you end up thinking ‘I should have left after three minutes’ (and then they suck big time!!!!)

SGParticipantSounds like they can inconsistent live, there`s alot of bands like that.

Indeed, Belgian trappist ales are the shit. Still, on a hot summer day my first choice is always a Czech pilsner .. .. maybe I should start a beer thread someday .. or perhaps set up a poll As far as the bands are concerned, I should prolly be embarrassed, but the only one on the belgian list that I’m familiar with is dEUS. They had some pretty cool tunes. Haven’t heard anything from them in a long time though, are they still around?

SGParticipantI think I read somewhere that dEUS broke up,never heard anything by them but Freak/Palace Bro told me about them.

irishwhipParticipantAnd what about these Dutch bands:
Within Temptation
RacoonSeptember 24, 2001 at 5:53 pm #65232
Bucky RamoneParticipantWell, don’t know about the status of dEUS at the moment, but they always had a lot of side-projects going on, and the members who left formed all kinds of exciting new bands (best example Zita Swoon [used to be called Moondog JR.])
and, Irish Whip, Racoon is one of those terrible Dutch band that all sound quite the same to me…..
….and the Ex, they really should have been in my list!
from Amsterdam (with quite limited access to the net, I will try to check the boards daily…), den Buck!
