OriginalPosterLostParticipantI know J Mascis/Dinosaur Jr did some covers of other songs (Just like heaven, Anticipation, Leaving on a jetplane etc.), but are there any bands who covered a Dino song? I’ve never seen any.
I just know I did one myself, but I don’t play in a well-known band, so that doesn’t really count. Are there any other fans who covered a song and has put it somewhere on the internet? If anyone is interested in my version of Get Me, I can place it on my page.

OriginalPosterLostParticipantI would like to hear your cover of "Get Me".
A garage band of mine covered "What else
is New" a couple years ago, but we never
recorded it. It was fun to play.

OriginalPosterLostParticipantWell, I updated my page with the mp3 of Get Me. It’s my brother who’s singing (please, don’t take it against him). The drums are done by a computerprogram. When I made it, I didn’t have very good sound samples, so the drums are a bit cheezy, but I think it sounds OK. It’s me my self and I on guitar, both rythm and solo. I hope you like it and I’d appreciate it if anyone would let me know what you think of it.
The adress is: http://www.geocities.com/irishwhip_lh/
and then go the the MP3-section. At the top it says Get Me. The other songs are no covers, just songs I created myself.Pim

irishwhipParticipantI downloaded that song from Cloudberry Jam: it’s really amazing. I don’t wanna say it’s better than the original, but it comes really close! The song by Warping Allergin I don’t like, but the rest I read above is ok.
By the way: my own version of Get Me is not available anymore, because my homepage has moved and I don’t have enough space. I hope someone liked it!

ricParticipantwhere can i get a hold of a copy of Dino Jr’s cover of "sweet child of mine"?
also, didn’t J do a Kiss cover for the "kiss my ass" album?– Ric

nickParticipantAhh Going Blind of the Kiss My Ass album. I remember it whole heartedly, i had borrowed it from a friend in early 97 and was riding around with it in my car just a jamming. Any way I stopped by to say hello to some cool cats. When I got back into my car to start it, the ingnition caught something on fire in my car. It was a minute later my car was on fire. Burnt to the crisp after about a 20 minute hot and furious blaze. With it the Kiss my Ass CD, all dinosaur jr CD’s up to that point. Countless Dead and Phish bootlegs, and other valuables. Any way the prior post deepsludge was a reminder that I still owe my friend that CD…

ricParticipanthey guys, i’m not trying to be a smart ass or anything, but, i caught my car on fire too. it was a ’87 nissan sentra. my first car! my dad told me that it was low on oil and that i should go ‘put oil into the car’.
being the ignorant, high school rock and roller who knew NOTHING about cars, i filled the oil to the brim (4 quarts too many!).
i made it down the street before the engine caught fire. no damage to any tapes though. that happened the next week when my kid sister spilled a Big Gulp in the back seat destroying all of my Jesus and Mary Chain, Cure, Dino Jr and Smiths albums.
life can be cruel…

nickParticipantit is comforting to know other out there share my pain. Mine a 87 buick lesabre T-Type. The cause of the fire is unknown but my best guess is the electric spark from the ingition caught on fire. But i know nothing about cars to be accurate. Any way, I feel ya’ll pain.

nickParticipantJeremiah, I think this topic is starting to move away from dino songs covered by other artists, so it may want to be moved. You decision. However, some really good stories came out of the topic, at least for me it is great know I’m not the only one who caught his/her car on fire…

cafeine queenParticipantthere is something sad about theworld today, people dont get the credit they deserve for covering songs that hold great meaning to certain generations…like no one hears it, or they dont recognise the song…or the artist never excells into the mainstram, or at leat the recognized of indie musicians, who these days all sound like shit. no passion. no hype. that is why i am still listening to my old stuff, and still covering songs like get me.
"get me…" never recorded it. I think that is illegal, but i do it at live shows.
"yr not gonna get me through this are you???"
