stannerParticipantreading ‘GuitarWorld’ magazine from April ’93 and trying to get to the bottom of this…
J is being interviewed talking about his influences-Aerosmith,Deep Purple, Creedence and then the Stones..KevinShields is being interviewed too and he asks J: "You played lead guitar before you played chords?
J: "Yeah. I played w/ this punk band, Deep Wound, and I just played the lead. Chords hurt my hands."huh? J played guitar in DeepWound?
didnt know that-thought it was all Lou…
are there any records or tapes w/ J on guitar w/ DeepWound?
would love to hear that stuff…

lookitssamParticipantFrom my understanding he overdubbed leads during recording.

stannerParticipantover dubbing? on a punk record?
the mind boggles…never heard of such a revolting idea…
no wonder J & Lou had probs…no guitar player wants anybody messin w/ their tracks-‘specially post-hardcore punkers.
so, i’ve never heard any DeepWound…is their alotta guitar overdubs?
where are they, verses, choruses, solos, intros, outros…?
please do tell.July 27, 2005 at 3:33 pm #111704
stimpParticipantDeep Wound had some leads here and there on some songs but it was mainly straight foward stuff for the time….It’s sad that band got over powered from the X-Claim hardcore scene in Boston cause their ep and comp tracks were really awesome and groundbreaking when they came out. If you can track down one of the boots of the ep do it, great stuff! You can probably find all their stuff on soulseek too. If that doesn’t work I can make a cdr of all the stuff they put out.

lookitssamParticipantBack when I was a music n00b, I went to a record store in New York and asked if they carried Dinosaur albums. They were out, but the guy showed me this comp "Band’s that Could Be Good" and it had a Deep Wound song on it. Looking back I should have gotten it… ah well.

stimpParticipantYea the Bands That Could Be God Comp is pretty good stuff, personally I like the ep stuff better cause it grabs you more, but you can see on the later songs where they were starting to head, especially the song Dead Babies…they were out growing the punk scene musically. If you can track down both those things, good luck…great stuff.
