ragweedParticipanthi all. kind of a random, personal, stupid question. mention of a ‘love child’ comes up in 1991:ypb, but was wondering if j has a family of his own. nothing specific, of course. certain songs seem to reflect that vibe, but it’s always kind of been a lingering question. a little detail always sheds new light on his musical perspective. having a kid has definitely affected my songwriting. that’s why I ask.
this is probably in the wrong forum anyway.

AGAPParticipantYou know I have been wondering what those paternity results were for awhile myself, but sorry don’t have a clue. See what you mean…not personally…about the kid thing though, has changed many peoples perspectives. Maybe someone else can give us both an answer, never know.
So welcome to the boards, hope to see you around.

I`m not sure about your question too,who knows?

AGAPParticipantHey JC,
Thanks for the info, it was Kim Gordon I saw interviewing J in The Year Punk Broke about the love child. I was left with the impression the paternity of the child was in question…think she said something like if it comes out pale with dreads we know it belongs to…or something like that.
With you on the coolest dad in videos…and on stickers

jamclarkParticipantAGAP,
I completely forgot about those stickers that came with the Quest EP and the Out There singles. Those are great!
I’ve got a bunch of really weird dino-artifcats. Golf balls with the cow logo on, Green Mind air fresheners, almost all (at least 10 of the) t-shirts, and so forth. I should retrieve my digital camera from my friend and take some pictures of the oddness.
Skipping out early today,

jamclarkParticipantI can’t think where I read this, or if my mind is playing tricks on me, but I think someone asked J about the whole love child thing in an interview, and J replied something to the effect of:
–
It wasn’t actually me, it was HR from Bad Brains who had the japenese love child. They don’t know if it’s his or not though yet.
–This kinda jives since Dinosaur never played in Japan until 94 I believe.
Again, this is purely my ‘fuzzy memory’. Speaking of the dad mascis, i think his appearance in the ‘Whatevers Cool With Me’ video has got to me the coolest cameo by the dad of a rock star

ChrisParticipantMaybe it was someone close to J that may have had a love child. I may be mistaken but dosen’t J have a sister and a brother? I know J likes to use experiences that may not be exactly his, but someone he knows in his songs.
Maybe Uma and J share more then what we thought all along?…That was a joke <img> so laugh with me.

TheJamesterParticipantHe has a brother — a cool guy with his own band, the Warblers — and two sisters.
December 12, 2002 at 4:45 pm #53021
AGAPParticipantApparently his brother has a thing about blowing up marshall amps…seems sonic/white noise loud music is a family trait. Think the Warblers opened for The Fog, the Mascis, Watt, Berz Fog
Theres an article here somewhere with J talking about his brothers band…I’ll find it sometime soon
welcome to the site TheJamester

TheJamesterParticipantThanks for the welcome (that was my first post).
I saw the Warblers open for J a couple of years ago in Amherst, and they were great. They’ve also done some shows with him in Boston (I think) and maybe New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
I know the article you referred to. Watt also said some nice things about the Warblers on his website — something about "frosty" (and someone had to explain to me what that meant).
