bedbugParticipantAwesome night! Been waiting about 12 years for this one. I actually got chills when they walked onstage.
Opening bands were good. Still, to have to sit thru 2 sets before Dinosaur was just masochistic.
No surprises in the setlist. The big ones I wanted to hear were Budge, The Lung, Raisins and Sludgefeast, and I got ’em all!
About the loudness. I’d heard the tales, and thought I was pretty prepared. I made it thru about one verse of the first song without earplugs. It started pretty good and loud, but the first time J clicked on the volume boost for a solo it was like – BOOOOM! – it was so awesome. The guitar actually sounded pretty clear for being that loud – excellent tone! I moved around a bit, and you could hear the vocals quite well towards the back of the club. Up by the stage you were just consumed by the guitar. I tried to take both in equally.
The band seemed in good spirits. Lou was pretty chatty. J had bought a guitar earlier that day at a store called Mike’s Music that has all kinds of vintage stuff. J pulled out his new purchase, a Les Paul goldtop (still with the pricetag on it) for Chunks. It had humbuckers which really surprised me. I wonder if he’s gonna swap ’em for P90s when he gets off the road.

dinodrewParticipantThat was my 5th Dino show (2 as dino 3 as the fog)
My brother and I both REALLY enjoyed that J’s vocals were very loud and clear…first time ever I heard his voice that clearly. Lou did seem to be in very good spirits!
GREAT SHOW!

I completely agree. I think the sound was much better than in Boston but they may have been because I was standing further back from the stage or something. Great show, Lou was especially talkative probably because his extended family was there somewhere.
I think I enjoyed this one better than Boston because they were able to play longer. I found the layout of the club to be annoying though.

Spiral_StairsParticipantAmaaaaaaaaaaaazing show. I loved every second of sound the traversed and rang my eardrums. The only bummers during the show were that they didn’t play They Always Come and that guy spraying around all the beer and jazz. He burned my bro’s fiance with a cigarette and wouldn’t apologize so my bro hit him in the face with a bottle. So my mood was a lil tarnished during the last three tunes. By the way..what was the first tune they played and the tune before Chunks? My friend and I couldn’t recognize either of em. They must’ve been first album tunes, I have my lp of it lent out and I just can’t remember em. But yeah, incredible show. 10 times more fantastic than I could’ve imagined.

thepsychicpilotParticipantHoly crap. That’s all I have to add that hasn’t been said already. My ears are still ringing.
Does anyone have a full setlist for that show? I saw the soundguy handing out copies of them after the show.

sonicmarkParticipantI drove in by myself from St. Louis.
I did see the sound man hand out one set list. I know one that got handed out on stage was shredded into bits by the 5 people that were trying to get it.
Spiral Stairs, I think you must have been behind me a few people because I remember someone getting burned on the back. I was having problems with the KIDS in front of me as well as the long-haired blonde guy (as sincere as his fandom was) who kept whipping me in the face with his gross hair. And if I remember correctly, I think they opened the show with "Gargoyle" from the self-titled album. I could be wrong. And was "Mountain Man" before "Chunks" in the encore? I can’t entirely remember. The other songs in the encore were "Just Like Heaven" and "Freak Scene" of course. Damn. I really should have written down a set list. I just figured someone else would get it.

Spiral_StairsParticipantWell I wasn’t there when that person got burned, I only heard that my bro’s girlfriend was burned so it might’ve been the same person. But I was pretty close to the stage on the righthand side so I didn’t see it. I did see that blonde guy alot though. He whipped me in the back a few times with his hair. I thought he was funny. I was wearing a 92 Lollapalooza shirt, that’ll give you a hint if you saw me or not. Thanks a bunch on those tunes, I figured they were first album songs. I don’t have those fully memorized yet.

andyfestParticipantI was standing on the second teir and some idiot flicked his cigarette down into the people below. I wonder if your friend was burned by that… Anyway, he proceeded to work his way down and get in a fight with someone before he and his buddy got thrown out by the bouncers.
I agree that they didn’t play enough from Bug. Didn’t even play No Bones or The Post which surprised me. I got to see those in Boston though so it didn’t really bother me.
Too bad to hear the Madison is getting closed down. I didn’t really like the lay-out but it seems they get decent bands and we need more venues like that in this area of the country. Covington seems rather run down overall to me. A lot of vacant shots and storefronts.
