Indie rockers Dinosaur Jr. have announced an extension of their summer tour.

The group’s three original members, J. Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph, told Billboard.com they didn’t realize there would be so much interest surrounding a possible reunion between them. But after being approached by publicists and interested parties and receiving offers to play big festivals, drummer Murph said the band thought "it would be good for everyone to do it."

They performed for The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson last month, one day before playing to a full house in Hollywood. Murph described the experience as "amazing… it felt just like before… it was like a perfect fit."

The North American tour features 17 shows and according to Murph, the set list will be composed mainly of Dinosaur Jr.’s first three albums, all of which were recently reissued and remastered by Merge. The band released eight albums in total and Murph squashed the idea of releasing any more. "It’s just all about the reunion and just kind of reconnecting as people, as kindred souls," he said.

Dinosaur Jr.’s Canadian tour dates:
