Nov 25th is also the anniversary of Albert Ayler`s death in 1970 and Nick Drake`s in 1974 :(

Albert Ayler–yes. I am more familiar with him than with Nick Drake. Do you know of this album Ammons /Ayler.. I am looking for it everywhere… ???

I don`t think Gene Ammons recorded an album with Ayler.I think you`re thinking of Sonny Stitt. There`s a couple or three albums they did.One called Boss Tenors In Orbit and a live album. And maybe another live album.
Ayler did some of the most experimental jazz of the `60s.Alot of screaming sax :o 8)

    Hey SG,

Yer absolutely right :) It’s Albert Ammons w/ Sonny Stitt : Boss Tenors. Why did I think it was Albert Ayler when they have such different styles :P

It`s Gene, not Albert.Albert was his father who played piano in the `30s and `40s.

Yeah, I’m getting all the names mixed up today–Albert: Boogey-Woogey. Gene: Tenor
