hey, let’s put together our lists of the best albums of 2005 (first half)

I know, there were the Dinosaur Jr reissues. I was really thinking about if I should include them. in a way they were a big album event in 2005. in another way they’re not from this year… so I left them out of my list.

-I Am Kloot – Gods and Monsters
    -Beck – Guero
    -Lou Barlow – Emoh
-Magnolia Electric Co. – What Comes After The Blues?
    -Hot Hot Heat – Elevator
    -Go-Betweens – Oceans Apart
-Antony & the Johnsons – I Am A Bird Now
    -Sleater-Kinney – The Woods
-British Sea Power – Open Seasons
-Devendra Banhart – Rejoicing in the Hands

…definitely one I’m adding to my list! just discovered them, and loved them right away. people who like bands like Neutral Milk Hotel would like the Decemberists, too. that kind of intensity that grows with listening…

Who would you compare them to? I tried to listen to this at a music store today but the listening station didn’t work. I’m hearing lots of good things but it also sounds like they’re not necessarily for everyone.
